Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Of course you'd think that, living in Brazil. Heck, the standard US Netflix experience for $50 would probably seem like a good deal in Brazil.

However, I am going to try streaming only for a while. Eventually I think I'm just going to dump it. I wish my fiance would let us dump cable too. I don't think I have willingly watched an actual TV show at home in a few years.
I hear you man! My wife and I were thinking of dropping Cablevision since they are rape artists and their internet sucks too! :x I also can't remember the last time I watched a TV show.

As for Netflix, I also received my email today and I am going back and forth w/ the decision to just go to streaming or canceling in general. I have heard they are eventually going to add everything to streaming which you can expect a big increase from $7.99 if that does happen. I can always rent DVDs from my local library for free and as many as I want. They have a decent selection and if there is something I want that they don't have then they can order from another library to have it sent to them for me to pick up which is REALLY convenient! There are options without Netflix but I do agree that Hollywood is to blame here.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

You people who are going to cancel do realize that the price change doesn't happen until September, right? So you shouldn't cancel right away.

I have been using a gift subscription from my grandparents for a few years (great Birthday gift 8D) but this year I didn't get one, and they now limited it so the only plan you could gift is the streaming only plan. I guess if I had a job I could pay for Netflix, but I don't so it's going sad to say. I guess I can watch my backlog, and lots of Hulu stuff I watch is still free so there's that....and the Pirate Bay...hehehe

-1 member.
Actually Netflix's providers decided that they should pay more than double for access to their libraries. This is more the fault of the studios than netflix.
Regardless I'll be going down to streaming only, their bluray selection sucks anyways.

I certainly can't call up my boss tomorrow and tell her "Hey starting September 2011, due to wear and tear on my car and gas prices, you need to start paying me double if you want me to show up on time AND do my job. Otherwise, you can pay me a little less and I'll just show up on time, but I wont do any work."

Why should they be able to?

Because they're a business and people will still pay for their service.

I'm definitely undecided at this point. I may switch to streaming only or drop the service and use Hulu, YouTube, and possibly RedBox. I don't have cable anymore so I guess I have till September to decide. I rarely watch TV shows anymore.

If you were the ONLY person who could do your job, then you certainly could call up and do that.

If Netflix wants to keep streaming access for, for example, the first two seasons of Dexter, they pretty much have to pay whatever Showtime wants them to pay. Netflix has to either pay them more, or not feature the show.
