I'm looking for RPG's with pre-rendered backgrounds.

The battle system was one of my favorite parts about the entire game, awesome boss fights as well!Xeogred wrote:Well that's basically what I said too, lol. I think it's ugly for the most part, but everything else about the game makes me not care about that at all.Bradtemple87 wrote:Screw how Xenogears looks, it's still my favorite rpg of all time
Maybe not my favorite gameplay wise, but story wise yeah... along with Suikoden 2.

Don't get me wrong I think the battle system was incredibly good... it just obviously didn't reach its full potential. Like when Citan finally got a sword, you got to use it for like ... 1 dungeon? It was kind of a bummer you pretty much have to grind (for no real reason) if you want to check out some of the insane combo's and such later on. I think the real problem was the majority of the last portions of the game had way too many mech battles, those were still awesome too... but damn did I love the normal battles with all the combo's and everything. Reminded me a lot of Chrono Cross but it was just way cooler.
So yeah, the battle systems rock, that second disc just really took a toll on them though to an extent. Too many mech battles. Right when the normal battles could have gotten insane and really over the top, the gameplay took the back seat...
But oh well, like I'm saying... still one of my absolute favorites.
