PS3 for Blu-ray, GOW3, better at playing Media files, these were factors in early 2010, also Gran Turismo 5, Forza only wishes it had as much depth and detail.

I chose the PS3 maybe 3 years ago and sold it last winter. Now I've got a slim PS3 and am enjoying it much more. Just got a PS Move as well. I find that the controller feels better and is more accurate than my Wii remotes, but there just isn't much to play with the motion controller at this point. Child of Eden will change that.

Speaking of Child of Eden, my Japanese 360 will be here on Monday! I rearranged my room in anticipation for this so I would have enough floor space to use a Kinect. I know I do not NEED a Kinect for the game, but it looks like it'll be an even greater experience with it. I hope it will work okay for games that require a bit more body movement like Dance Central. I am guessing the player will only be an average of 4 - 5 feet from the sensor while playing a game like that. From where the sensor will be to my bed is only about 6 1/2 feet.
My B/S/T thread! :)

I have both a us and japanese 360. As far as shmups go, you can't beat it.

I would still consider getting a ps3, but perhaps after a price drop.

Grats on your jp360 ZenErik! Its well worth the investment.

I'll chime in and say that I think PS3 is the way to go without question. There are a couple of things it has over the 360, but there are two major ones:

-Region free
-Software library is way better

Those two things alone make the PS3 infinitely better for me. The 360's software library isn't very diverse at all. It's only saving grace for me used to be it's large selection of JRPGs, but now pretty much all of them are available on PS3, and with more content.

Yeah, early on I thought the 360 was gonna be the console for jrpgs, but the ps3 is definitely getting more/better jrpgs. Thats the main reason I'd get one, thats my 2nd favorite genre.

But since shmups are first for me, the 360 is still my favorite. I'm not too diverse with the genres I play, so the massive amount of great shooters is perfect for me

I think the other advantage of the PS3 is that Sony has a good track record of supporting a console for a long time. Both the PS1 & PS2 have had long life spans. I think the same will be true for the PS3.

I find it to be such an overstatement when people say one software library is much better than the other between the PS3 and 360. They're basically the same. There are so few exclusives and multiplatform games are so similar that I really could live with either console.

That isn't true in my case though.

For most, I suppose the library is basically the same. I can see that. For me though, nearly every current generation game that I've loved has been PS3-only, and nearly every game that I'm looking forward to is PS3-only. I think this is just a result of my tastes being mainly in Japanese developed games, and a lot of the time the devs/publishers don't put their game on the 360 because it performs so poorly over there.
