Twenty minutes to an hour and a woofer surround repair kit (usually cost around $20 at max) and they should be as good as new.
I picked up a pair of my uncles old no-name floors (10"+4.25") where the mid/sub had rotted. $23.00 later, two brand new 100watt 10's to rock my living room. Old JVC stereo, no digital, I picked up from a buddy upgrading his setup, powers them just fine.
Forget the high-end stuff...your playing 16-bit sound! No bang for buck there unless you plan to upgrade to a HT later. Look for a 2-way 50-150 watt pair, keep it simple. Also, what is your budget?
