I was just thinking that printing out a fake disc was clever.

Well, it only cost the guy 2 bucks and some ink, plus the time to cut out the copy. The whole process probably took 10 minutes.Ziggy587 wrote:Ah, right, I forgot about those prepaid cards. Well in that case, it is a nice little scam. Though really, is it worth the effort to steal a disc only copy of a game? And a used one at that.
If he was smart enough to use a prepaid card, then he got a new game for damn near free.
And really, if he was willing to swipe a rental copy like this, I doubt he really cares if its used and lacking a box. Considering the pay off, I'd say it is indeed worth the effort. It isn't a collector mentality that makes someone do something like this you know?
Guy's a thieving prick for doing it though.

Honestly I'm kinda jealous I didn't think of this first. Not that I would do it now at 26 but man when I did graffiti from 16 to about 23 all I did was come up with stuff like this to get free things. More analog but still.
Yes it does suck you couldn't get the game you wanted.
I am not trying to flame here I'm just impressed.
And don't do graffiti bad for your health.

Is there really no good system to check if the game is still in there?
A friend of mine told me at school that when you rent from Redbox, you can put in a dvd or another game you don't want and it'll be fine. I didn't believe him 100%, but damn, I guess it really is that easy.

Well that's not really true.Veno wrote:Is there really no good system to check if the game is still in there?

The rental discs have little codes on the inner rim that are scanned by the machine. You can see them in hashirya's picture up there.
A hi res copy apparently works, as we've seen here, but any old dvd wouldn't. I've never tried to put a non rental disc into a redbox machine, but I imagine it would spit the disc right back out if you tried.

I was thinking that maybe those machines don't accept prepaid cards. Must have been a stolen credit card then.benderx wrote:I tried to use a pre-paid card on one of those blockbuster machines....it doesn't accept even if have $25 on the card.

If it was a stolen credit card, why would they have returned anything? I think it's just a case of stupidity.
