Re: Cancelled games that you wish were released
I know it's been mentioned, but Earthbound 64, strictly because I've finished Earthbound & Mother 3 and I've got a craving on me for more.
Re: Cancelled games that you wish were released
I lament most of what was canned for Dreamcast. Castlevania Resurrection has already been mentioned. But I think there's a bunch of other ones. I guess some of them made it to other systems in one form or another, at least.
Legend of the Blademasters looked like a neat ARPG for Dreamcast. I was really looking forward to it after seeing it in magazine ads.

Also heard about Toy Fighter (not to be confused with Toy Commander) that was dropped from Dreamcast as well. Could have been a unique addition to the Fighting genre.

I've only recently been keeping track of game release dates within the last couple of years, so I hadn't even heard of Earthbound 64 until this thread. Makes me sad to know it now, but at the same time happy I didn't know about it then since I'm sure it would have just about devastated me

I remember seeing screenshots for Earthbound 64 in Nintendo Power.
That's all that ever came of it as well if I recall.

Re: Cancelled games that you wish were released
I know I'm dating myself here, but SEGA was in the midst of creating a 3d sequel to the ultra gory Eternal Champions. They canned it early in production because they didn't want it to compete with their own Virtua Fighter (if that makes any sense)

Proper sequal for Chrono Trigger! Among many others.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Isn't Chrono Cross a sequel to Chrono Trigger? I've never played it because I'm just not into turn-based RPGs. But from what I understood, I thought it was.

Technically. It takes place in the same universe, but the presentation and game play are almost nothing like Chrono Trigger. The story is connected, but only near the very end, and not in a satisfying way at all. It's a great game in its own right, but a very poor Chrono Trigger sequel. I think that's why Haoie specified there should be a proper sequel.BurningDoom wrote:Isn't Chrono Cross a sequel to Chrono Trigger? I've never played it because I'm just not into turn-based RPGs. I'm not aware of such a game ever having started development though--at least not by Square.

I scoped the screenshots recently and got that pang in my guts that you only get when you're looking forward to something class, akin to the Majora's Mask feeling in early '99 (In Ireland, at least). As much as I appreciate that it became Mother 3, I still want it realized.
The whole franchise is such an unassuming bowling-over piece of gaming. No hyperbole.
Like a qualifier is even needed with the converted.
