Funny, Sonic comics are getting rebooted too. Haven't read them in over 10 years but I'll be picking up a few just to frame the cover art.

Mmmmm.....

I'm really not liking the look of Superboy... I hope they don't fuck with him too much. I'm kinda getting the feeling they're gonna go the Young Justice tv route and axe Superboy's relationship with Superman. That'll be really disappointing.

Guess I'll wait and see. My enjoyment of the new line pretty much hinges entirely on what they do with Superboy, so yeah...

On the plus side, I like Nightwing's new costume.

As for Sonic, I'm afraid I haven't been keeping up with comics for the past six months or so, so I don't remember the story behind Sonic Genesis there (though I knew it was coming), but it looks cool. The Sonic comics have been great, particularly since Ian Flynn took over years back, so it should be fun.

I need to get back into comics. I miss Sonic and Spider-man and Superboy...

I'm normally not a Sonic the Hedgehog comic reader. I just can't take cartoon animals serious enough to spend my money on it. But those awesome looking retro-covers are making me consider this storyline at least.

I agree that I am looking forward to the new DCU. I have no problem with the costumes, even Superman wearing a slight body armor. My take on the costumes is that all the old costumes were spandex and the same so why should we care that they all share the same modern material, plus now Superman's costume will be almost as invincible as he is. I hate torn costumes.
I do hope that they continue one or two "classic" books otherwise my 35+ years of DC history is worthless.

Only think that bugs me is Damian Wayne being the next Robin.

Probably gonna look at Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Green Lantern: New Guardians, Red Lanterns, Static Shock, Suicide Squad, and Teen Titans.

Have you read any "Batman and Robin" or when Damian was in the teen titans or teamed up with Batgirl in her solo series?

I at first disliked the kid too, but his cocky attitude can be quite fun when written properly.

I only saw him in Batman RIP, and he kinda grated on me.

I agree. But like I said once the writers saw the potential humor in his arrogance his appearances have been quite fun.

Okay, I'm ready to play Devil's Advocate once again.

This is exactly what the comic book industry doesn't need: another gimmick.

Although I agree that the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" reboot worked well for a time, It didn't solve any of the long-term problems associated with comics. Soon enough we went right back to plot holes, deus ex machinas, dead characters brought back, and misogynistic portrayals of women.

Marvel's Ultimate imprint also started out really strong, but after a decade it has fallen into the same slump as any other long running comic universe.

What the comic industry really needs is fresh new characters. Let Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Wolverine and all the other big names rest for a few years. Try out a few new ideas.

Take some time to modernize the distribution method too. Although everyone seems to agree that digital distribution is the future, neither of the two major publishers have figured out the right method yet. Here's a hint: you can't sell a digital comic for the same price as a print comic.

Just some food for thought.
