Okay, I'm ready to play Devil's Advocate once again.
This is exactly what the comic book industry
doesn't need: another gimmick.
Although I agree that the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" reboot worked well for a time, It didn't solve any of the long-term problems associated with comics. Soon enough we went right back to plot holes, deus ex machinas, dead characters brought back, and misogynistic portrayals of women.
Marvel's Ultimate imprint also started out really strong, but after a decade it has fallen into the same slump as any other long running comic universe.
What the comic industry
really needs is fresh new characters. Let Superman, Batman, Spider-man, Wolverine and all the other big names rest for a few years. Try out a few new ideas.
Take some time to modernize the distribution method too. Although everyone seems to agree that digital distribution is the future, neither of the two major publishers have figured out the right method yet. Here's a hint: you can't sell a digital comic for the same price as a print comic.
Just some food for thought.
