Why is every level something where two world class athletes are fighting atop a park bench? Or in a public bathroom? Or in front of some drunk Chinese dude at 3 o'clock in the morning.

But yeah, it is kind of weird to have this great giant "impromptu" tournament.

Maybe there is a giant audience, they're just always located behind the player's perspective, so we never see them. And they're very well mannered and quiet. Except for the drunken Chinese guy that got on the wrong side.
