Unless you've jtag'd and haven't updated your 360 in ages, or your USB ports are broken, every 360 now has the ability to use USB drives -- up to 16GB. (i.e. even if you put in a bigger one, it will only see 16GB.) You can use 2 for a total of 32GB.

I've not met a 360 that wasn't able to use them after the update -- what's up with yours? :)

It just seems simpler and more straight forward and the themes available are just better implemented than 360 themes because they are either interactive or constantly changing. The Sega Dynamic theme from PSN Plus is an excellent example of one that never remains constant.
And don't forget the free tools available to create your own themes. I've found plenty of awesome user made themes on various sites, all free.

for me, ps3 simply because things like wifi aren't an additional expense. I also like that the HDD is just a standart notebook SATA drive and that you don't have to use their proprietary ones.

That and its compatibility with HID usb controllers.

Slim 360's come with wifi now.

My 360 game collection is about 40x bigger than my PS3 collection, so I guess there's your answer right there. It's not the consoles that dictate it, it's the games. And typically since just about everyone I know already has a 360 and XBL, that's another reason why it's the usual choice to play online with most of my friends.

It's funny how back in the day I'd make fun of how wretched the PS3/PSP menu design is, but nowadays I'd say that is actually a plus to it, because unlike the 360 it's not loaded with bullshit feeds and crap I don't care about whatsoever.

The 360 can do 1080p as well. There are hardly any games on either platform that are 1080p native, but both are capable of it.
It's quieter
May depend on the machine. While I can't say my 360 is quiet, I haven't used a Slim - and one reason my phat PS3 was retired from the living room was noise (particularly while playing Blu-rays). I was also hoping that the Slim PS3 wouldn't have the occasional video dropout problem I had with the phat...but no such luck.

At the time I bought it I chose the Xbox simply because it wasn't as expensive as the PS3 I paid £99 for the Arcade pack which was a steal at the time considering the PS3 was still the fat version and had a ridiculous price.
My Xbox collection is quite large now so I don't see any point in getting a PS3 now except for exclusives but I don't want to clutter my desk space and I still haven't waded through all of the Xbox games I have bought so maybe later once this console generation is done with I'll buy a PS3 to play the games I didn't get to play such as Metal Gear Solid 4 and some others I can't remember off the top of my head.

However with that said if I had to choose consoles as someone without either console I would choose the PS3 the 1st party games are better and most 3rd party games are available on both consoles and I don't play games online and top it off can get a used ps3 for under around £100 quid nowadays.

It's stubborn maybel

Sounds like something I need to look into. Thanks for the update. I've have issues with getting online with my 360 though, so it may not be properly updated. Add that as another plus for the PS3 column. I never have issues getting online. 360 has always given me issues getting online and staying online. That's just been my experience though. The 360 in general has been an unreliable piece of hardware for me

If you had asked me in 2008 I'd say 360 no doubt, but, right around 2009 the PS3 exclusives just came raining from the sky.

Although, given the choice now, I'm not sure which I would pick. I'm not so interested in consoles at the moment, and I feel that this gen has run its course and it's time for something new.

I would have to side with the PS3.

I prefer the controller (thanks SNES!)

I prefer free online access- I've played on Xboxlive for years now, I honestly don't find it to be worth paying for, especially after playing on the PSN.

I prefer the library - I find there to be many more quirky, unique, and original games on PlayStation (although not as many as on Wii). Also, the fact that it's region free is amazingly convenient.

Sony has been really good with hardware this gen. If you extended this topic to PSP vs DS and took the software libraries completely out of the equation, the PSP would probably win out overall. Though the DS does have a cool clam shell design and the stylus support, I'd say PSP wins out in every other area
