That sort of thing was certainly nothing I really thought about growing up, but nowadays it is kind of funny going back and replaying some JRPG's or playing new (old) ones and thinking about the dialogue. I've always wondered how accurate FF7's translation is, the first time I played it never had I see so much cussing in a game and I still don't think it's been topped in that regard.
it's for sale on gamespite.net and eventually the articles will be archived. But that could be many months from now.
the FFVII was one of the first to get a very legit translation. There's stuff about that in the book too.
I don't mean to hype it because I'm in it, but I think it's a great book. I've read the whole thing almost twice now (400 pages) and I just find it a really great resource.
Well FFIX is a very late PS1 game. By then Square had seen the full revenue that a good translation can bring in.
I started playing Duke Nukem Total Meltdown (Duke 3D for PS1) tonight. I wanted to mix it up and play something fast paced. Holy ass, it's awesome. The only Duke I was familiar with was the GBA sequel. Anyway this game is brilliant. Took everything I liked about Doom and put it in an awesome environment. I love that the first level has a movie theater. So awesome. I'm gonna enjoy this one.

It's a little harder. You have to fight up close and personal. Only some of Zero's techniques are as effective as X's special weapons in boss fights.
If you are good at dodging enemy attacks and remembering their patterns, Zero run throughs can be a lot of fun. If you NEED that distance, it can be frustrating.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Playing as Zero is much more fun, honestly. A little harder, sometimes, sure, but he has a much wider variety of techniques. X's weapons are kinda samey.
It's a very different experience. And, *spoiler*, I love the cutscene in which he fights hand-to-hand against Sigma. So awesome.
I honestly thought Zero made X4-X6 too easy. Sure you had to get closer, but his sword does so much more damage than X's buster it was a little insane, especially his spin attacks or whatever. The bosses were just downright easy as Zero.
Still fun, but a very different experience. Worth playing those games as both characters.

I found X6 with Zero damn near impossible due to poor level design + move inputs that caused Zero to commit suicide should he try to do anything as he moved from platform to platform. X5 with Zero was a joy - as long as you were patient enough to do what you had to do to KEEP him.
Ugh, after X4 the game design just fell apart.
