True, IGN gets behind pretty much every single big name game that gets released without fail. On the other end of the spectrum, pretty much every game that comes out that I liked a lot (usually RPGs or other Japanese games) gets utterly lambasted. With DNF though, I feel like hating on it and giving it a bad or medicore review is going to be the "cool" thing to do for the major reviewers. Seems like a lot of people wanted to hate it. When it comes down to it, it's one of those games you pretty much already know if you're going to like or not. It's a shame that apparently the console version got butchered though.

What's this "PC" you speak of?

Am I the only one that sees this part as a good thing?

"Is it worth the wait? Of course not, don’t be ridiculous. How could any game possibly be worth waiting 14 years for, especially one that only ever aspired to be a low-brow comedy first-person shooter? There’s no reinvention of the genre here, no real attempt at grandeur. More than anything, Duke just wants to party like it’s 1997.

Check unrealistic expectations at the door and forget the ancient, hyperbolic promises of self-deluded developers before you even consider buying this suddenly corporeal ghost of PC gaming history. The development-time-to-awesomeness ratio isn’t impressive. If you can do that, Duke Nukem Forever can at least mostly succeed in its aspiration. After all of its tumultuous history, it’s ended up as an entertaining FPS wrapped in juvenile, smut-laced humor. Its gameplay is a hybrid of old-school and new, and it won’t wow players with stunning visuals—its window of opportunity for that passed years ago—but it does put on a good show of alien ass-kicking by working what it’s got."

Thank you for that. That sounds like it's all I wanted it to be.

Anybody, and I mean anybody who seriously thought this game would be worth the wait was delusional. I find it rather shocking that some people seriously do have that kind of expectation for this

No game in the history of ever would have been worth waiting 14 years for. Not even OoT or Half Life 2. Must be epicly disappointing to people who expected it to be worth the wait.

Read an opinion in the comments section, and one the negatives was outdated pop-culture references. Yeah, because having Jenny('s number on the wall in the bathroom in '96 was so with the times.

I'm always entertained when people put down as a con something that the developers were intentionally going for. It'd be like saying "Modern Warfare, con: first person perspective".
