Trying to remember a name of an old arcade game..

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

kay, I need to have some help too. there was this sweet arcade game back in the day, say around 91, Its on one of those mutli game NEOGEO machines. You were a dood with swords and if you died you went to heaven. You could also turn into a wolf that carried your swords on your back. does anyone know this game?

What kind of game was it? Side-scrolling action? Can you tell me any more about the play experience? It might have been one of the Sengoku games or one of another series I can't remember the name of off the top of my head. Give me more ammo!

It was a side scrolling platformer, and the gameplay reminds me of Ghouls and Ghosts. I remember the characters main weapon being a sickle, though you could pick up other weapons, like spears. I want to say that you could use the sickle to swing as well, but I'm not 100% on that. The main character seemed to have the same proportions as Arthur from G&G. I remember the tone of the game being kind of dark, without the cutesiness of G&G.

If I can remember any other details, I'll let you know. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, that's still not it. The game I'm thinking about was much "darker" than that one I almost want to say that it may have been put out by Capcom, because of the similarity to Ghouls and Ghosts. The main character looks just like Arthur the knight, except he was bald, and wearing a red kimono.
Take a spin through the Arcade listing and see if you can find it :)

Well, after searching through a couple thousand games, I think it's Ninja Spirit. It's not exactly like I remember it, but then again, what is?

Ninja Spirit has an excellent port on the Turbo Grafx 16. It's quite a fun game.

Irem's spritework from that era is awesome. The shading is really nice.

for sure, very stylized stuff. I love the bosses on R-Type.
