Trying to remember a name of an old arcade game..

Back when I was a wee lil one, around '88 or '89, I remember playing an arcade game at a Roses store that involved what looked like a monk fighting off hordes of demons. The style of the graphics and the gameplay reminded me Ghouls and Ghosts. If I remember correctly, your main weapon was a sickle, but you could upgrade it to other ones. Anyone have an idea of what this game was called??

Could be Mystic Defender...not sure if he's quite a monk though. It was on Genesis not sure about the arcade. He doesn't have a sickle either. Oh well just watch a funny video here of it and see if it jogs your memory.

It's not that one, though it does look like fun. The game I'm thinking of had similar graphics and character models to Ghouls and Ghosts.

Was it Bonze's Adventure (or Bonze Adventure, maybe)? That's an Irem title in which you play a Buddhist monk fighting undead thingies.

Unfortunately, that's still not it.

The game I'm thinking about was much "darker" than that one I almost want to say that it may have been put out by Capcom, because of the similarity to Ghouls and Ghosts. The main character looks just like Arthur the knight, except he was bald, and wearing a red kimono.
