Ooooooo man, can't wait for this! :D I've been playing games for a long time and I really enjoyed the first game. The art style was great; bright, vibrant, a breath of fresh air honestly (I was even grinning at the beginning of the game from it). I also liked the first person viewpoint, it was unique and different than any other platformer like it... if it went 3rd person it end up feeling similar to Prince of Persia. I hope they keep quite a bit from the original (maybe tweak combat, but I don't want them to focus on combat).

Yeah, if it was 3rd person, it would kind of ruin the game, they'd miss the point of it. It would just be like assassins creed or prince of persia without fighting. I agree with JordanPlayer, keep it the same, just tweak the combat. I think combat should only be used in dire situations where you're cornered, the game is about free running and escaping. The only other thing they really need to do is make the levels on a larger scale, open up the world more.

And that is why it's awesome. I guess Mirror's Edge is a game for hipsters, it's like a high budget indie game. I rented the first one and then bought it later just because it's a must have for my collection.
Dude they threw combat down your throat towards the end of the game in that huge computer server room and everything, didn't you HAVE to kill people there? That or it was just too tedious and annoying to be fun for me. Yeah, I didn't want combat either and just wanted to run and jump all around the top of buildings, but the last portion of the game was pretty bad.

I think it's possible to beat the game without fighting anyone, it would just be hard to do. I thought the end was pretty cool, it made the game intense, I liked the part where you're on a rooftop with a bunch of snipers and you have to be stealthy.

You don't have to kill anyone. That is however the single point in which you have to disarm anyone. Disarm one of the guys with the bigger guns and let loose on the actual servers themselves, it will cause the exit door to open. Then just jump your way through.

I thought the combat was kind of stiff if you tried to take on everyone, but I didn't have nearly the problems others did. When I was flowing I could easily disarm a cop and keep moving without breaking my pacing. I really should jump back in to the speedruns and time trials, which many people say are much more fun then the story (aka, no combat at all).

I absolutely loved Mirror's Edge.

Chalk me up as excited for the sequel.

Mirror's Edge in 3rd person.

I think the point of the game was to give you an authentic first person platforming view, which I think it did amazingly. But to give you the eyes of Faith, I think they put the camera in her head, so you don't have to see the game like it is in the video.

Mirror's Edge, Vanquish, bullet-hell shmups and speed-runs of videogames are all from the same basic mold. The goal of playing those is to learn them so well that the pace "flows". Most aren't willing to put in the time necessary.

I've heard EA struggle with the decision to keep this uniqueness versus the desire to "conform" to standard FPSs, in the attempt to make more money. I doubt I'll enjoy their final decision...

Oh, those surreal, cubist DLC levels weren't PS3 only.

There's a scary thought.

Making the game more like a typical fps will kill my interest pretty damn quick...
