Some people actually like to play through games they like multiple times, even RPGS.

Weird, right? I know, it boggles the mind.
Alright, sorry if it sounded condescending, but it was one of the duller experiences I forced myself to finish. That and the genre really doesn't lend itself to multiple playthroughs.
I've played through Final Fantasy Tactics at least three times. I loved that game.

Personally, I find Tactical RPGs to be far more friendly to multiple playthroughs than typical RPGs. Battles are massive and often have more than one solution. There's multiple classes to invest in, which means one playthrough might have you neglecting classes that end up become your main in the next playthrough. I've also seen many Tactical RPGs that have multiple characters that are easy to miss picking up, so there's that going for it as well. Not to mention all the extremely rare or hard-to-obtain equipment, classes or skills (Genji equipment in FFT, for example. I also remember a rare sword that could only be obtained by "Catching" when a ninja throws it at you. I remember in Phantom Brave, there was a Water skill that could only be obtained by capturing an item that was in the Tutorial mission at the very beginning of the game.)

There's just a ton of different ways to play through a Tactical RPG. Each battle can be a whole new experience. I've rarely played a battle in a traditional RPG that didn't stick to a very specific code of conduct.

Only RPG I've ever wanted to play through more than once were the pokemon games, extreme variety of "characters" and a relatively short adventure. Most gamers who aren't into the RPG genre specifically would almost never play through them more than twice tops. We aren't exactly average on this website though.

Oh wait, I think I may have played through Lock's Quest(Does that count as rpg?) Twice actually. That game just deserved it.

I replay RPGs. A lot. More than any other genre. (This might be because RPGs are pretty much my favorite genre.)

Former Poke-Addict, who played only for the immediate story. My letter deliveries to Oak alone probably goes to double digits, add in the other series installments...

I'm free now though!

I can see why you would then. One thing that probably makes big difference: Skipable cutscneses... yeah, don't want to watch long-ass scenes over and over.

What?
I've played so many of my rpgs over and over it isnt funny. That statement can't possibly be true.

I look at rpgs like books. Sure, some people will read a book and then never feel the need to pick it up again. However, there are a lot of us, like myself, that would read a book through again after maybe a year of not having read it.

With rpgs, they are less straight forward than books, and nowadays even offer new game + and multiple story routes/endings

I'm about 86 hrs into my first playthrough of Persona 4, and I am already thinking about things I will do diffrently the next time through. Difficulty levels, in games like persona and star ocean, make it even more fun to play through!

^truth^

Tactics Ogre has at least six different endings depending on how you play the game, and different characters to recruit for each path you take.

Final Fantasy seems to be the most linear of RPG's if you discount side-quests and hidden items. By that I mean, it generally has only one ending you can unlock.

Lots of other RPG's have only one ending, that's probably where that came from. I myself did this

When playing through "Don't Take It Personally, Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story".

I think he was talking about Tactical RPGs - and yeah, a lot of tactical RPGs have multiple endings. Hell, I'm pretty sure every NIS TRPG has multiple endings.
