I usually prefer film adaptations to deviate from the source material. Often, things that work well in one medium don't translate well to another. Also, it's fun to see an alternate take on a story. And it's not like the source material is really consistent at all.

It was alright. It wasn't terribly bad, but it wasn't very good either. Given all the material they have to work with, and an excellent cast it should have been much much better.

...........did you not watch til the very end? I can't blame you if you didn't, the movie was REALLY terrible. But ProfX is alive and in some other broham's body.

Edit: You know what, nevermind. I need to work on my reading comprehension. And yes, I agree with you.

Its hard to expect movies to follow source material to the letter

I recently read this article:
http://io9.com/5808487/proof-that-the-x ... characters

With source material that messed up its not to hard to think we'd get some pretty messed up movies.

It's not a terrible film, I enjoyed it, but I have to echo some of the sentiments Luke said. January Jones was pretty dull as Emma Frost, and she's pretty much expressionless the entire film...which admittedly wasn't so terrible considering I was rarely looking at her face...

But, yeah, there are some terrible moments in there. The "slavery" line for instance, right as they cut to Darwin's face. That made the audience groan. The line about them having trained so hard over the week made us laugh too, as they had literally only trained a week...it just felt rushed at places. Also it was forcibly intermixed with the Cuban missile crisis, so the history buffs may groan a little.

Oh, there IS a Wolverine cameo, but for those of you who hate him, you'll probably like how it goes.

I'm enjoying Uncanny X-Force too much to bother watching this and have my thoughts on the X-Men franchise further soiled.

That, and I haven't seen a comic book movie since the atrocity that was X-Men 3, and I intend to keep it that way.

I just read that article and loved it. I remember as a kid reading almost every one of those storylines and never noticing how messed up they were since I wished I was a mutant. Thank god I'm not.

January Jones is not a quality actress. Mad Men is on of my top tv shows airing, but I have never cared for her character.

No, he basically tells Professor X and Magneto to fuck off.
