I really liked Hugo and actually play as him regularly, he is a great Zangief alternative and I really like his wobbly stance and animations. I was really looking forward to him in SF4, a Zangief vs Hugo match would rock.

I do agree on Twelve and the head/palette swaps, Q's design was ok to me.

I really disagree with the article on most characters, but there are a couple I agree with. T Hawk is cool, but his stance does need to change. The Cammy clones are a little annoying. And Yun is kind of an obnoxious character design. Everyone else is fine with me.

And yes, you are right about the fun factor.
I have a ton of fun with Third Strike, so that's all I really need.
When I first played the original SF3, I was a bit disappointed that all my favorites weren't in it (much like the first Alpha), but I eventually learned to love it's advantages and learn a fresh crop of characters.

I hope SF4 has more new characters so I have a good reason to play it over the older iterations.
At the risk of getting off-topic, I agree. Or rather, I kind of wish SF4 had at least more of a new cast, not just bringing back the original 8 from SF2. Or at least some sort of change to the originals, being this is later in the series. Sounds ridiculous to be focused on the story too much, but I dunno.

I thought they had announced at least a couple of new characters. Did I mishear?

They did -- there are three new ones. But I'm curious if there will be more since first-gen iterations of Street Fighter games usually have a relatively small number of characters. Compared to Alpha and Street Fighter 3, SF4 has a pretty high ratio of old-to-new characters.

What is the writer basing this list off of? How they play or design? It seems to be the latter, so why aren't Ryu, Ken, Gouki, Dan, and Sean on the list? Some fun characters, but their design is about as originial as the turkey drawn from a traced hand.
