neo geo. I'm not even sure I've ever seen one in the wild in 20 years of gaming.

Re: What games or game systems have eluded you?
theres been a couple of times when I go to fleamarkets and me being a dumbass go without any money! NEVER AGAIN!
The first time was late '99 when I was 17 (young and had no job), A guy at a fleamarket was selling a Neo Geo Aes for $100 bucks with two controllers and I think with king of fighters and some other game I dont remember! Of course I had no job back then, I was too poor and barely starting my collection. Also when you have parents that dont care for your hobby...well..... But had that been Now I would have done everything I can to get it.
About five or six years ago I went to a fleamarket again and I had no money, I saw a guy selling a Vectrex system with 8 games and with the screen covers for $50! It was already too late for me to go to an ATM since I had to go to work, and that was a once a week fleamarket. The next week when I went back, that selller was gone!
Lastly, a few years ago I went once again, and There was someone selling a Nomad, complete and opened but still with the box, The guy wanted $20 for it, but since I barely got to the fleamarket and still wanting to look around, decided to pass on it to see if there was anything better out there, there wasn't and when I went back it was gone!
There have been some other times that I've lost out on some games, but thats happened to everyone, but these ones I've said here with the consoles are the ones that leave a metaphorical tear in my eye

I had a situation kind of like that where I came across a video store in a small town that had the inventory of another rental store that closed in the late to mid 90's. So they just brought out all this inventory and rented it again. Well this store closed during the golden days of PS1 RPGs, and everything was $10 a game. They had Einhander, Suikoden 2, Tales of Destiny, Tactics Ogre, Legend of Mana, and a few more. Unofrtunately I was low on funds at the time and only got a hand full of games. Being that I needed the cash I sold off some of the games to friends. I wish I had gotten more. I think the store had closed down by the time I made it back down to the area.

I remember seeing Earthbound inside the game display case eventhough I didn't have a snes console. Renting megaman x and mario rpg became somewhat rare games later on, but not anymore. I did one time want a Jaguar console because the commercial was cool. It was probably best not to get a jaguar. I still don't have a snes console even if i own few games. I always pass snes console because I can't find those unique games. I wanted to rent a Virtual boy console for the weekend at blockbuster, but my mom wouldn't let me. I remember wanting all games in the display case in the store, that was my dream eventhough it never happened.

For the longest time I couldn't find Future cop but I got it late last year. The Master System is my current obsession and I haven't been able to find one for a reasonable price.Mechblue wrote:

To ad, I would say
-Saturn (I have nothing at all so this would be a new collection)
-Colecovision (same story as the Saturn, trouble is that I believe these were never sold here in Australia)
-NeoGeo (would be sweet but a little too costly)
-3DO (Sure,why not)
-PSX (The PVR thing not a ps1, I have 5 of those)
-More GBA games (doesn't seem that hard to find cheap but every fucking game I buy on ebay won't save and it's too much of a pain to return them)

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Sega CDX for me and maybe a lil bit of Famicom Disk System. too pricey for me. I'm aware of a fellow racketeer selling FDS's every now and then for a fraction of what they go for on ebay, but still can't bring myself to spring for one since the games IMHO are expensive (again basing that on ebay's prices) it'd just be a showpiece.
Re: What games or game systems have eluded you?
My white whale is without a doubt Suikoden II. Got the first game when it came out and loved it. I didn't even know a sequel had been made until I saw Suikoden III at a Best Buy. By then Suikoden II was already crazy expensive and I have never been able to bring myself to splurge on it. I still can't fathom why Konami hasn't rereleased it in North America/Europe in some fashion.
