A: Some freebie games that came with my dad's Windows 95. Looking up old freeware games on the internet to download back in 2003 or 4 caused me to discover the world of DOS gaming, which in turn got me into retro gaming in general.
B: Never been obsessed with a game, although I really, really like C&C Generals and Ratchet & Clank 3. TV shows, however, are a totally different matter.

Re: Interest and Obsession
Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for the NES. That cartridge got more play than any other cartridge in my NES collection as a kid. Well until Super Mario Bros. 3 came out, at least. When I was growing up and I was real little, we had an Atari 2600, it was my older sister's. I remember playing it and quickly getting bored with the games. Then for Christmas when I was 6 or 7 my mom and grandpa split the cost of an NES and got a few games with it, Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt being the pack-in game of course. They also got me The Legend of Zelda, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Solider, and Pin-Bot. Great line-up of first games that I still love and play from time-to-time.
Anyways, back to the game: I played the cartridge mostly for Super Mario Bros., of course. That's the game that made me fall in love with the NES, and then with the NES I fell in love with all gaming. Pure platforming greatness. It may be a bit crude in the graphics department, but the fun factor of the game makes you not care about it one bit. And that's the mark of a great game. Duck Hunt is fun too, but it's no SMB.

Can you make the OP title a little more descriptive?o.pwuaioc wrote:Taken from a quote from someone on a different forum...
What game/games a) got you into gaming, and b) (if any) got you obsessed (or extremely passionate about) gaming?
Mine will have to be a) Legend of Zelda (NES) and b) Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis). What are yours?
Edit: Added formats.
A title such as:
What got you into gaming and when did you get obsessed?

A) Started with Sonic the hedgehog on my Master System
B) Pokemon Red. I played games a reasonable amount before pokemon, but this is the game that really made me into an avid gamer.
