Still yearning for Dreamcast 2? You're retarded.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I honestly like the dreamcast controller (and I have big hands, since it was brought up  ) but it could certainly have been better.

Seriously though, I've never liked the playstation controllers. Ooh, dualshock, shoot me now.

Its funny, back when the gamecube first came out, one of the big complaints was about the controller. I remember the most common remark was that it felt like it was made for "small, childlike" hands (which was really just a thinly veiled nintendo is kiddy remark, but hey). At the time I was thinking, have you played a freaking PS2? That controller never fails to give me cramps.

I hate the position of the dualshock's left stick, and I hate how R2 and L2 on the dualshock 3 seem so... far away. They don't feel like triggers, they feel like mush.

Haha, oh well, I tried. Seriously though, I've seen many, MANY people moving their thumbs around the perimeter of the D-pad, it's not at all uncommon. I realize that you never brought up the "cheese-grater" complaint, but in my experience it's a more common problem for people than the ergonomics of the controller (although I hear about that alot as well). I'm in no way trying to tell you you're wrong about your own hands, I'm just trying to suggest things, 'cause I've helped alot of people in person by giving them suggestions... when I was younger I was actually fascinated by ergonomics, if that explains my weirdness.

In terms of ergonomics, though, if I ever get a chance, I'll shoot a video with my dainty little hands... so far I've found that there are four different places to orient the pressure of your hands, and two that really, really don't work (pressing the joint between your palm and pointer-finger against the top of the handles makes using the whole left side of the controller a pain, but I've seen many people hold it that way/holding it so that the fleshy protrusion of muscle which connects your palm to your thumb actually presses against the face of the gamepad).

Forreal though, I'm gonna make a video whenever I can get around to it. Although it might not solve your personal problems with the controller, I've changed the minds of several friends in person. If'fin there's just no way for you, I'm truly sorry for you and your thumbs! I'm sure they're just as dainty, just in a different way!

I'm awkwardly excited for this video. You are now honor-bound.

Haha, I appreciate it! I mean, we're already on a forum discussing games that are decades old, I expect for the people around here to have awkward sources of excitement. I'll probably do it once I'm through with finals -- I'll have to plan ahead so that I don't ramble too awfully much; a video about holding a controller will already bore most people to death anyway, I at least owe it to viewers to be concise.

I've also planned on making a video on how to control Sonic R for awhile, haha...

Haha, do you put the joint of your thumb on the "B" to accelerate and the pad of your thumb on the "Y" to jump as well? Using the shoulder-pads to steer? I can see how people have a hard time figuring out, but it irks me when I hear people say the game's "unplayable" when I have as much fun with it as I do Daytona USA and Sega Rally.

Bingo! Plus, I'm one of those weirdos who's also perfectly capable of accelerating with Up. Its easy when you can steer/drift with the shoulders.

You're right though, the "unplayable" comments are ridiculous. Its one of the truly perfect examples of "You're doing it wrong!"
