Re: All the single gamers, all the single gamers.
If a significant other, married or not, is questioning every person in your IM list or gamertag list, then there are trust issues or you are acting suspicious. An old girlfriend lived 3 hours away and I only got to see her every few months for a long weekend. Neither one of us worried about the other being unfaithful.

But you didn't get my point. Why can't you have both?CatchFiveBats wrote: Some people don't place dating very high on their priority list, or on their priority list at all. For them (for me), having video games is definitely a reason to stay single...but so is just about everything

I know you said it. I'm just agreeing with you because I, obviously, have both.

I like to have as much time to myself as possible (much of which is spent playing video games), and having a serious relationship eliminates a huge chunk of your free time. Between all the shit I have to deal with, I'm not at a point in my life where I'm willing to share my time with another person. I'm a pretty selfish person to tell the truth.
Re: All the single gamers, all the single gamers.
I'm just about ready to start dating again. I've been involved in a complicated situation for the past few years that's finally over with. Now that I've got my house I'm pretty well established, so I can focus my energy on attracting the opposite sex. My relationship in college was the best thing that ever happened to me, so I'm not trying to hold on to being single. As insurance, I've made video games a pretty central theme of my life and my house (including the decorations). So any girl I bring home will quickly show just how cool she is with my hobby.

Re: Single people
That's the exact reason I want to stay single my whole life. Most people aren't as willing to do daytime type activities at 1:30 AM as I am, such as watch a movie or go to the store. Most people don't want to live in close proximity to a guy who stays up till 2 AM having fun, then proceeds to wake up at 8 AM. A lot of people just need more sleep than I.CatchFiveBats wrote:Personal freedom is a wonderful, wonderful thing. Not to say that you can't have it in a relationship, but no relationship comes without its restrictions (or without having to compromise and justify and set up boundaries and rules at least a little to reach a lack of restrictions). Having the option to follow any whim you have without having to justify it to anyone rules. Call it childish, but I'm having a great time

Re: All the single gamers, all the single gamers.
Does anyone have a wife/girlfriend that they have to answer to about their hobby? I don't know anybody like that. It must really be hell to be with someone who doesn't let you do the things you love. I am guessing Niode had a bad experience with that kind of woman otherwise he wouldn't have mentioned it in the original post. I am pretty much just as free as I was when I was single, only my place is in better order and I eat a lot healthier. My hobbies are still intact. I was playing Shadow of the Colossus until 4AM last night. Not one complaint from my fiance with whom I live with.
I know you're angry and bitter, Niode, you go out of your way to let people know this any time there is a conversation about relationships. But there are girls out there who will let you do whatever you want. You wanted sympathy from board members (If you didn't want sympathy, you still got it) when Katie left and some brunette got the best of you, and you turned on those very members and put them down because they still have what you used to. That's not cool. Get over it and move on.
....or you can just sit in the dark and listen to Nine Inch Nails' "Somewhat Damaged" over and over again for the rest of your days.

Re: Single people
Honestly my ex-girl friend hated all my hobbies. If I ever married her it would have been terrible. And no, I didn't break up with her so I could play video gamesdsheinem wrote:As a happily married man, I can do both of these things.Niode wrote: Stay up until 6am playing Tales of Vesperia? Sure no problem, you're single! Not having to explain who every single person that comes online on Live is, especially if they have a gender-ambiguous name.
All you single people are a bunch of massive idiots who like to generalize that us married people are all the same. No wonder you're single.

Re: All the single gamers, all the single gamers.
I've never been one to jump into a serious relationship. My longest relationship was about eight months. She never kept me from doing what I want I have to say. So it was kind of nice.
I'm open to ditching the single life right now honestly. It's all about finding the right girl and you can still enjoy your life and do what you want. I've just been seeing too many wrong ones for the past few years though
I'm patient, better to wait for a good one than let a bad one f*** up your life and I have seen some guys have their lives DESTROYED by vindictive females. People ask me everyday why I'm not married yet. Because I don't jump into that sort of thing recklessly and stupidly like most people I know
