Uh, Sony's customers give Sony money. In other words, they agree with and support the idea that we should not have any control over the things that we buy and own. They think Sony should be able to take away features at any time.

Sony wouldn't be able to get away with their bullshit if people didn't support them. Sony's customers are partially to blame for this and they deserve this PSN downtime.

It's not Anonymous. So this pointless argument doesn't even need to happen.

Seriously, dude? It's just video games. The most irrelevant, irreverent, unimportant damn thing any of us can do with our time / money. It's not some great political struggle, David vs fricking Goliath where all the angry fat slob nerds are going to stand triumphant atop a pile of bricked PS3's before an epic sunset, their grimy ass key boards raised above their heads in victory as the evil Sony horde rushes away in defeat.

IT'S GAMES!

Games that people paid for and would like to play. Sony's customers aren't making some political choice when they buy a Sony product. They are saying 'hey, I earned this money. I would like to spend it on this game because I am fortunate enough to have this disposable income'. If Sony screws with the customers it is up to the individual customer to decide where to draw the line with their support of Sony. Not some dipshit jerk offs with over inflated egos and a chronic case of not growing the hell up.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

No it's not. It's about consumer rights and whether or not you own the hardware you pay money for. If Sony's actions don't worry you or scare you then, shit, you're an idiot. Sorry, but to just not care that your rights as a consumer are being well and truly butt-fucked you must be living in cloud fucking cuckoo land. IF Sony get away with this shit it means they can do it again, and again, and again. If Sony can get away with it, then maybe other companies will start doing it, until it gets to the point where I've boycotted so many companies that I have to give up everything and go nomad. I don't want that to happen. Do you want that to happen?

No, I'm not an idiot. Two things: Cause and effect, and vigilantism.

Sony is doing some things I don't like. You think I'm applauding the constant updates or the liberal interpretation of the EULA Sony has? No. But guess what? The pendulum swings back and in this next console iteration it looks like Nintendo will be in a position to supplant Sony as the primary platform for Japanese software. Sony may not be getting much more money from me in the future. And other consumers, if they are bothered enough by Sony, will move in that direction as well. Or Sony, sensing this, will knock their bullshit off.

Cause and effect. These things tend to themselves.

On to the topic of vigilantism - having already spent money on a Sony product and having doubts about whether I should do so again, who are these jerk offs to further deny me use of what I have already paid for. Consumer rights (and all rights in general) are up to the courts and legislatures to decide, not some entitled and egotistical twats who should find better outlets for their talents.

Moderator or not, Niode, don't call me an idiot. I am always willing to talk to you reasonably, even when we disagree. Treat me with the same respect I show you, dammit.

See, I understand what you're saying. The problem is Anonymous is making it worse for the very people they're claiming they stand for. I don't think anybody likes what Sony has done/is doing. Anonymous, however, are an extremely hypocritical group of people. They claim they are standing up for us, but, what are they really doing? Thats right, they're doing things that are exactly the opposite of what they stand against. That's why people are angry at them.

You and Inazuma are free to not buy Sony products. However, that doesn't mean that those of us that do should be punished. Punish the fucking company. Not the people who simply buy something they like that happens to have a Sony logo on it.
Older. Not wiser.

I somehow fail to see how the removal of majorly useless features is comparable to being raped up the ass.

I'm not calling you an idiot specifically. I'm just saying it seems idiotic to not care.

Also, I'm not agreeing with Inazuma, and he's not agreeing with me. Also, this isn't Anonymous' doing. It's an issue with Sony Japan's servers. I assume they have some sort of central server system in Japan and all the other servers around the world are just nodes. People seem quick to point the finger here. Shame on Sony for being ambiguous as to what the cause actually is.
