What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)

(these youtube videos are great because the singer leaves detailed comments on all of them about the recording of the record and his time in the band. really interesting.)
Dude, that was great! Thanks for pointing them out.
Xeogred wrote:Haha, great stuff dude. I've never gotten too into the big Bay Area bands to be honest, not a huge fan of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, or whatnot, maybe crazy of me but I like the faster, dirtier, or darker stuff usually. Some that come to mind... Artillery, Coroner, Deathrow, Destructor, Flots & Jets, Holy Terror, Overkill (their debut), early Metal Church, Onslaught, Pariah, Rigor Mortis, Satan (their second album), Torture, Toxik, Vendetta... haha just some random ones.

Tankard and Venom are definitely awesome in my book. I even don't mind late 80's / early 90's Venom, which seems kind of hit or miss to some people.

Gotta agree with you about Sodom and Kreator, Kreator especially ... not sure if I like them that much, but some of Sodom is pretty cool. Same with Destruction.

You a fan of Heathen? Huge fan myself, the one Bay Area-ish thrash band I actually like a lot and I thought their newest album kicked tons of ass. A comeback done well.

Guess I'll listen to that now... so here! :D
Heathen - Silent Nothingness
Thanks, I'll be checking out the ones I don't know. I've heard of Heathen, but never listened to them. But this track definitely has me looking for more.

Oh, I suppose I should admit that my interest in Kreator really tends towards their most recent stuff. For instance, I enjoy their Hordes of Chaos album. But maybe I'm just weird. Then again I listen to some of the more modern revival stuff, bands like Gama Bomb, Bonded by Blood, Municipal Waste, Evile, and Violator.

Awesome. On that note...

Listening to Heathen - Fear of the Unknown, one of my favorites from their second album. It's kind of crazy how different the vocalist sounds on all their three albums, it's the same guy. He's not mindblowing but I've been a fan for years and couldn't imagine them without him.

As for all the bands I mentioned there, for Artillery I definitely mean their old stuff... their original vocalist Flemming Rønsdorf was really crazy and unique. Their new stuff is still pretty damn cool but they have a new vocalist that's really soft and melodic, he just doesn't fit the darker style of their music in my opinion, so I have some trouble backing their new stuff. Well, I'll let you compare them yourself...

- old
- new, still cool and the vocalist does his best... but can't beat the character of the old vocalist for me.

I've only heard some of Kreator's old stuff, so maybe I'll give their new stuff a shot. I do enjoy some of those newer bands myself.

Probably Overkill's last classic hit. Not like most of their later 90's / early 2000's stuff is all that bad (compared to other bands), but yeah... however their 2010 album Ironbound kicks ass! Their vocalist still has it as well.

Grum - Heartbeats

It's like Daft Punk from before they started to suck with a healthy dose of the 80s and 90's dance floor fillers from the likes of Stardust, Livin' Joy, and Darude. Love it.

Niode got me hooked on Grum as well. Kiuller beats with great hooks and a really slick style:

Oh and the video is a tribute to animated music videos of the 80's which is badass.

What a nice throwback sound!

The song above (Papillon) specifically.
Sounds like if Joy Division had a tech-baby with VNV Nation..

Ooh what was nice, and an apt comparison. The other songs I listened to were cool, but not enough to make me want to pick up the album. But Papillon was really nice.
