How about in Star Control 2: the UrQuan Masters, when the Kohr-Ah start their death march across the galaxy and you realize you're totally unprepared. Didn't realize there was a time limit in that game, and spent too much time mining.

The first time I played Salamander II. The first boss from the first game appears...then all of a sudden he gets eaten by an even bigger boss. Nom nom!

Ugh. I fucking hated that part. I wanted to chicken out so much. It's the first time I've ever had to actually look away from a game because the suspense was killing me. I knew he was going to do it I just couldn't watch him do it. I know it's not even real, but knowing you had the option just makes it feel so real to you, like your choices have consequences. First time I've ever felt that in a game.

The ending on Mario 3 also made me laugh when it used the same line.

It's a cool scene for sure. I really enjoyed it since I was totally addicted to Life Force as a kid. It was probably one of my most played NES games way back when.

That was when it all clicked for me and I realized why nothing felt quite right in Metal Gear Solid 2, ever since the Plant mission began. Some parts of that games story were silly but the big reveal showing that Jack was getting fucked with the entire time was PERFECT.

I was also exhausted and playing in the dark. That probably did not help.

They will never ever have that first experience of true revolutionary 3D freedom in a game. They all take it for granted now. Poor souls.

And she those big luscious eyes at the beginning of the game when she is narrating her past and referring to herself as a 'surrogate mother' to the Metroid. Were you making a sandwich or something?
