Now imagine playing Resident Evil and you actually have to look around the corner, only to see a zombie jumping towards you! For real!... Shoot him with the remote, duck, roll to your left (for real) and then shoot him in the side!... That would be sweet...

Now go even further, and imagine all this in Full HD splendour!... Seeing the girl from the Ring (Ringu) crawl out of your screen... ( -_-;)
Wow. That's amazing. Nintendo could totally do this with the Wii now. I wonder why they don't. >_>

Probably because the LEDs are in the wrong place. To determine distance from screen requires 2 LEDS, so that the tracking sensor can determine how far apart they appear to determine your relative distance in relation to the screen. The best way to make this work would be to have some sort of glasses with an LED on both sides, so that it actually monitors the position of your head. For the wii, these LEDs are in the 'sensor' bar (stupid name really). To track those LEDs would require a sensor, which for the wii is in the wii remote itself. If you watch the video, you'll see he uses a mount for the wii remote and moves the sensor bar about - how would that work for a game? Technically it COULD be possible to just do it in reverse, but it would be quite inaccurate because A) When you angle the wii remote even slightly incorrectly, it'd lose the signal and stop working and B) because the wii remote is in your hand, it'd be difficult to determine where your head is to angle the in game camera appropriately.

If you were to use one wii remote for tracking and one for playing like he does in the video, you need two wii remotes. Whilst there are plenty fo wii owners who would have two, I doubt many developers would be willing to make a game which outright requires two, aswell as including the glasses and the stand for one of the wii remotes. Being limited to one player may be a concern too.

I did quite a bit of research into this stuff for my degree project

So, have you guys gotten street pass Mii captures? I got 4 so far. 2 of them just sitting in traffic. I wonder what the radius is.

I have my 3DS with me every time I leave the house but have yet to get a single Mii. I've driven in traffic, walked through crowded areas such as grocery stores and Walmart, walked next to random high school students and still nothing. I got my 3DS way back on Feb 25th too.

You need to have wireless set to ON in order to do street pass, correct? I set mine up, put my 3DS in sleep mode and turned on wireless, so I don't think I messed up anything. I really hope that there isn't a region lock on street pass, because my 3DS is Japanese.

Street pass radius (i've heard) is 150 feet.

Also, street pass hits aren't correlated to steps taken. You're statistically more likely to get Streetpass hits stood still in a crowded area than you are if you walk around.

Yeah, I've not been lucky enough to get a street pass hit yet. I haven't been anywhere busy though, University is on easter break atm. I figure the most likely situation for me would be to sit and have a sandwich at the subway next door to gamestation in town. I get to sit still and hope people with 3DS's come to me instead.

Yeah, you got it right. I never turn my 3DS off. It's always on sleep mode with the wireless switched on when I am not playing it. As for the other street pass captures, I got em in two different cafes.

Honestly, it's not very important but I'd like to be able to use it because it seems like a nifty feature.

If there really is a region lock, I will be disappointed but I certainly won't buy an American 3DS just for street pass. There would have to be an amazing American only game for me to consider buying another 3DS system.

When the 3DS LL comes out next year, I will buy one and do street pass with myself. >_>
