Re: Genesis S-Video Interest
You just pulled a thread hijack on me there.
Not cool...
I'll be posting in the Buy/Sell forum as soon as I get all the parts in the mail I'm waiting for. Anyone interested in modding their genesis for around 50 bucks or buying one already modded, PM me.

Agreed, its not super easy to do, but once you do a few and have all the equipment, its not too bad.
It definitely makes sense for people just to buy one instead of buying all the equipment, learning to solder, etc, etc.
If anyone is interested, I'm also up for certain trades as well as just cash.

Most of what you find is a crazy complicated circuit to build the amplifiers for the Svideo mod but there is a much simpler circuit that works just as well.
I am curious as to what people wold pay for an already modified console. I wouldnt think it would be really worth the time and materials unless I'd be able to sell them for around $100 each. Maybe that's more than what people would be willing to pay. Thats just what I'm trying to feel out.
Could you make a video for it? That would be awesome yaw!

This is a video that another guy made, not me.
I would recommend not connecting the audio to where he shows you and instead connecting to where the front audio connector meets the board. When you hook straight to the chip you lose the ability to use the front audio connector and it also makes your output volume very low.

Re: Genesis S-Video Interest
I just finished my mod today. I connected the stereo audio near the front jack. Wish I had a bit that fit the S-Video connector, because I had to slowly make it wider with a drill and it was a tiny bit messy (as you can see from the pics). I would definitely use longer wire next time to organize the whole project. I would also definitely use more colors than the three I used (didn't have any other ones).
One thing I noticed was that on the Jamma Nation X tutorial and the one on Bacteria's site said to have the Negative leg on the caps pointing towards the chip. The video I followed on youtube said point the positive leg toward the chip and the negative leg to the output jack. Not sure what the difference was, but I followed the youtube one and it worked fine.

Wish I had a better camera than my phone, but I can tell you that the results are amazing!!!! I used to use RF and it was terrible.
