I'm not huge into the PS3 exclusives (despite owning about 40 PS3 games), but here are some of the ones I liked:

Uncharted (I haven't played the sequel, but the first one is great)
Motorstorm (fun, fun, fun and cheap! The sequel, I imagine, should be great fun also)
Ridge Racer 7 (fun arcade racing on the cheap!)
Sega Rally Revo (more fun arcade racing! Apparently I've got a theme going here.)
Yakuza 3 and 4, as well as the side story (if 4 and the side story ever are translated)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (if you don't mind a lot of cut scenes, it is a wonderful game)
God of War III, along with the Collection if you haven't played I and II
Gran Turismo 5 (duh...)
Hot Shots Golf 5
Ratchet & Clank Future
Lair (I actually liked it)
Resistance and the sequel (if you want more FPS games)

There is also a LOT of great stuff on the PSN. Good PS3 stuff, as well as WONDERFUL PS1 and PC Engine downloadables (if you don't mind buying Japanese PSN cards).

Add Flower on PSN, so you and your GF can do something relexing.

Make sure to have Valkryia Chronicles, the MOST underrated PS3 game, if you are a SEGA fan you should have it, as it is also one of prettiest game (in artwork not graphics power).

Sly Collection is excellent if you haven't played the PS 2 originals. Even if you have you get a nice high definition makeover with Sly Collection. The games hold up remarkably well, especially Sly 2 and 3. I can't say enough about the Sly series. Some of the best platformers I've ever played

Ratchet & Clank have already been mentioned but don't forget Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty which is a PSN exclusive download

welcome to the PSN club. i just joined myself.
Thanks, she definitely is!

Also, thanks so much for the suggestions guys! I just beat Killzone 3 today, and I think I'll end up picking up Killzone 2 if I see it for cheap. More Killzone can't be bad! :)

I did end up grabbing Resistance: Fall of Man, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and Little Big Planet: Game of the Year Edition (which came bundled with an extra controller!). I plan on getting the Pixeljunk games and a few others that were recommended to me in this topic as well. :)

All the exclusives everyone mentioned are great. No one mentioned Heavenly Sword though. I have to admit I thought Heavenly Sword wasn't that good the first time I played it. The combat systems seems retartedly simple and shallow when you first start but it actaully is pretty good once you get into the game.

I would guess you still have your 360?

Personally I only buy games for the PS3 that I have no intention of playing online. PS3 online is a joke. If they were smart they would just get it over with and copy xbox live. I would gladly pay for online on PS3 if it was worth a shit.

If you do plan on playing PS3 online then hopefully whoever you are playing with has xbox live as well. Whenever one of my friends suckers me into playing something on PS3 we always end up using chat on xbox live to communicate. Normally it's to play GT5 and we end up doing 2 races and then just put in Forza 3.

Basically you want to get most of the exclusive games (it's not hard, there aren't that many). Avoid ModNationRacers (unless for some reason you enjoy looking at loading screens for upwards of 2 minutes at a time. I tried it from HDD and loading times didn't improve much) and White Knight Chronicles.

The Pixeljunk games are all pretty good. Monsters is the best, it's a fairly solid tower defence game. Shatter is worth getting (if you don't have it on PC already). Wipeout HD+Fury.

Other fairly obscure games worth getting are Noby Noby Boy (made by the same guys as Katamari). Hot Shots Golf. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Resistance 1 is a great co-op game to play with your girlfriend. You might have to carry her through some of the tougher parts, but the game isn't too frustrating. The second one only has a co-op minigame of sorts so it's not as fun.

Flower is a masterpiece. For retro style fun I suggest 3D Dot Game Heroes. God of War III might be the best looking game I have ever played, 1080p brilliance!
