You can plug one into an Intellivision II as well but seeing as most games use at least all the buttons there isn't really a point.

Note for the Atari 7800
Even though the Genesis controllers has extra buttons, the two button 7800 games won't work. 7800 Asteroids for example is completely unplayable. But most do play fine, 7800 Robotron can even go dual Genesis Pad, a different Twin Stick approach.
