Why i start to hate COD and FPS in general

My little brother was complaining about how he bought Black Ops and didn't like it. I suggested that he take it to gamestop or whatever (it was pretty new at the time) and trade it towards something else.

I suggested trying to get Halo: Reach or Red Dead Redemption or whatever else I thought he might like. His response? "I only play Call of Duty games". Dead serious too.

Who cares that he only plays one game? If he likes it better why not let him play it?

After all it's absurd to lend him your console and then force him to play the way you want to. If he is having fun it doesn't matter if all he wants to do is browse the menu for hours or whatever.

My wife only plays Animal Crossing and Rhythm Heaven on my DS. I've tried to get her to play other great games available on that system, but she's adamant on only playing those two games.

Haven't got pissed at her yet.

I do not care what other people play. If they are having fun playing only one game, why should I say that they are not supposed to enjoy gaming like that.

Meh, COD sucks in general. The only good games in the series were 2 and 4. The first one was ok, but I preferred Medal of Honour: Allied Assault (it's spiritual predecessor). However, to say that all FPS suck based on this (very) limited sampling of the genre is just retarded. It's like saying 'all racing games suck because GT5 blows' or 'all fighting games suck because Tekken 6 sucks'.

Personally I'm a bit partial to Bad Company 2 because it's a superior game and actually requires team work to win, rather than just one person exploiting kits and having host advantage doing all the work. So yeah, not a big fan of military FPS games but that one has the special something that makes it work.

Its just appalling and shameful to see them spend all there timing shooting countless hord of enemy and never really knowing that there are other fun games outside of just shooting.

Maybe they don't find anything other than shooting to be fun? So what?

Given the choice between a COD game and any of these, I'd take the COD game every time. I own 3 of them and have played a bit of each. Does that make me some sort of meathead gamer?
