I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates the N64 controller. I REALLY, REALLY hate it.Croooow! wrote:I've never used the Saturn 3D controller but can understand given the Saturn's awesome D-Pad and six face buttons. I guess I was just so impressed with the DC controller because I compared it to the N64's.Flake wrote:I think that it just felt like a step backwards from the Saturn's 3D controller.Croooow! wrote:I've never understood the hate from the Dreamcast controller. Sure, it looks like a pontoon boat and the analogue stick doesn't have the best grip but everything else is great. I think the D-Pad on it is terrific and I loved that you could use it for most games instead of the analogue stick (something the N64 should have done) and I genuinely like the triggers and buttons. That being said I can't imagine playing Ikaruga with it (the GC controller is awesome for that game).

Certainly not. I remember when my buddy first got his N64 and I went to his place to check it out. I sat down with it and he handed me the controller and I was pretty much like... "what the fuck am I supposed to do with this thing?", good times.BurningDoom wrote:I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates the N64 controller. I REALLY, REALLY hate it.
DC controller isn't all that bad though. The d-pad can induce a bit of pain when playing fighters, but I always had a soft spot for the DC controller. VMUs are pretty badass.

Fight Night: Round Two, Super Punch Out was playable right from the beginning.
Soul Calibur II; Link obviously
MK Deception; Shao Kahn and Goro
Splinter Cell; GBA link allowed you to use the GBA as radar/map, ala Metal Gear Solid.

heh, and I feel alone having no issue whatsoever with the n64 controller, aside from the unreliable stick.

I am mostly indifferent about the N64 controller. I like that the A+B+C buttons effectively form a 6-button pad, but the extremely fragile stick and shoulder buttons irritate me.AppleQueso wrote:heh, and I feel alone having no issue whatsoever with the n64 controller, aside from the unreliable stick.

I agree. The button/stick placement for the most part didn't bother me. It was the fragile stick that bothered me the most.lisalover1 wrote:I am mostly indifferent about the N64 controller. I've used that before and that was a pretty neat feature. Definitely a plus for the GameCube version.martin31406 wrote:Splinter Cell; GBA link allowed you to use the GBA as radar/map, ala Metal Gear Solid.

I could argue against that..lisalover1 wrote:Anyway, screw all of you. I think the Gamecube controller is the greatest controller Nintendo has ever made.
I kinda liked the Virtual Boy controller in concept. Multiple d-pads, multiple triggers, face buttons... all in symmetry too!
Whatever happened to these two Wii controller add-ons?
But does it let you use the backlit SP? (GC games that use the GBA has a mini-screen are nice, but the GBA screens makes it feel like an oversized VMU.martin31406 wrote:Splinter Cell; GBA link allowed you to use the GBA as radar/map, ala Metal Gear Solid.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
