SNES as #1 is undisputed. I can do my top 4 pretty easily, but after that it becomes a little difficult. I also don't think any of the current generation systems should be on the list as their history has hardly been written (though I think the PS3 will probably come out on top for me). I've only played an XBox once and I can barely remember my Atari days so I can't really rate them. But I don't get why people rate the Dreamcast so highly. It definitely had a lot of potential and did a lot of innovative things, but its life was simply too short to accumulate the amount of good titles to rank it above the other consoles. And...I just realized I can only make a top 9.
1. SNES
2. PS2
3. NES
4. Genesis
5. Saturn
6. PS1
7. N64
8. GameCube
9. Dreamcast

Re: Top 10 Consoles According to GameFAQs
As long as SNES is #1, and NES is #2, I'm happy. But I think Xbox 360 should be on the list, higher than PS3.

Considering the extreme failure rate on the first few years of the 360, I would strongly contest that.

Dunno, despite the failures, people loved the console enough to buy it again. And again... and again

Personally, I'm in favor of 360 being up there, higher than the PS3 for sure, maybe higher that the original Xbox or at least equal to it.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I don't see why the 360 should be included (don't really agree with the PS3 being included either, but I'd rank it higher than the 360 in the big picture). What did it bring to the table? It's not really a remarkable console by any means, regardless of it's current day popularity.

...still wondering where neogeo is?
I would give the ps2 top spot on my list, no contest for me.

Well 360 should be on it and Xbox original should not. 360 is backwards compatible with the important Xbox originals. That being said, the Xbox 360 also has a better game library of exclusives over the PS3 and it revolutionized online gaming and multimedia on a game console.

That is a very biased personal opinion. God of War 3, Killzone 2 and 3, Infamous, Demons Souls, Ratchet and Clank, and the Uncharted series are all fantastic. Also, Fable can suck it.

The original XBox brought more to the table than the 360 did.
PS3 is backwards compatible too, so that argument is invalid. I know they removed PS2 backwards compatability later, but you can get an original one off eBay and be able to play 3 generations of games (without getting the finger, like I did when I tried to play Otogi).
The game library thing comes down to opinion. Not a solid point. But, Demon's Souls.
How did the 360 revolutionize online gaming? By charging a monthly fee and not even offering built in wi-fi? The Dreamcast revolutionized online gaming. The 360 does nothing in the online gaming department that the PS3 doesn't. Voice chat, sure, but who cares (PS3 is getting it now, too).
