Holy crap. Really? I guess I wouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg getting those GC component cables.

ah, you beat me to it. Exactly. ps1/ps2/N64/gc emulators on pc. do can do massive upgrades. I think the future will be emulation.
Xbox 360 uses software emulation to run official xbox games, and many Ps3 models used software too before b/c was dropped on ps3.
It's totally possible to have internal upscaling and texture filtering, pretty much every emulator out there does it. By extension it would've been totally possible for the ps3 and xbox to do it. I don't know why it was never implemented.
I'm really hoping here that if Nintendo ever does a Wii HD they go with that idea.

It's sad that the GC backward compatibility on a Wii is one of the biggest reasons why I want one again.
That, and well yeah I'm not throwing out ~$90 for some GC component cables!

I actually got mine from another member here for $45 shipped.

When I was a kid, I always thought that Super Nintendo should be able to play Nes games. I've actually never noticed the difference of ps1 graphics on a ps2 (if it improves it at all)
