I think what irks me the most is that my wife is about as girlie as it gets.
(She loves pink and loves to play with makeup and all that stuff)
However, she plays more video games than I do. Of course, she doesn't fit in to the 3 or 4 little stereotype presented as she is more of a Mario & Puzzle type of gamer.

That's not exactly what pisses me off here. Aside from what I already mentioned, I just hate how they're on a nationally syndicated show, further strengthening these false stereotypes. I'm fully aware of how women misunderstand the purpose of video games, but seeing these dumb broads get paid to make the situation even worse is what pisses me off.instant_classic wrote:i dont see whats the big deal, so women think guys who plays videogames are 'losers'. its not like its some outrageous revelation.
Fortunately, if anyone wants to flip the card around and see all the pointless shit women waste their time with, just watch any episode of the Tyra show besides this one. It's that easy.
That brings it full circle to a bigger waste of time than video games....watching the Tyra show in the first place. Why were you exactly???Mozgus wrote:That's not exactly what pisses me off here. And for the record I wasn't one of those people who cried during the Fantasy 7 ending.
Final Fantasy 3 maybe....haha...
Anyway, even though some of us have amazing girlfriends or wives that love or tolerate our video game habbits, I think the general public still has this sterotypical view of a gamer as nerd or loser. That perception is changing with systems like the Wii being so accessible to all age groups. And it's funny how many of the people that have that point of view will go see the movie based on the game. You all should know by now that 60% of the general public
live thier lives in a thoughtless haze, why else would Bush be our President???!!!!
Who cares what anyone thinks anyway. And If you're girlfriend makes you give up video games, you probably are a desperate loser.
Yeah, if your girlfriend seriously has a problem with your gaming habits, you should really re-consider your relationship.
Neither one of you are likely to change your opinions, so you're only asking for trouble by sticking with them.
Find a girl that at least doesn't care about them. Even better -- find one that enjoys them.
I'm pretty lucky. My wife is usually the one asking me if I want to play a game with her or telling me I should play a game to relax.

Funny how there's still a stigma attached to games, but it's completely okay to come out and profess your love of sports in this country. What exactly are sports? They're games. And while video gamers are actively participating in the gaming experience. Most sports fans are just spectators. There's a wonderful set of skills that playing video games develops. Why don't people respect that?
Oh well, just wish we could reach a point where games are as mainstream as movies, music, tv and sports(and NO we are most definitely not there yet)
