What do you think of Oblivion?

I absolutly loved Oblivion. Yes its cliche but to be honest thats kinda what i like in fantasy games. Green rolling hills, unicorns, medieval towns and all of that make the game seem more joyful and interesting. Its for this reason i simply cant stand fallout, the huge amounts of brown and the lonely characters depress me and then i reach the inevitable point of thinking, "Why am i playing something which makes me feel down?"

Oblivion had its flaws no question there. The leveling was terrible, conjouring was a useless skill, few combat skills/weapons, magic never hit the target by your or the enemy. But i didnt care because when playing i dont see the flaws, i just wander around the main roads at night sucking blood from innocents and killing anyone who comes my way. Then in the morning in treated to an incredible view with great graphics that stretches for miles.

As for Morrowind being better i cant honestly say as i've never gotten further than an hour into it. It seems like a good game but everything is sort o dark and grainy and as stupid as this sounds the walking animation really bugs me after a while. Dont know whats wrong with it but im always noticing it. Not to mention the rediculous fog which removes those wonderful views with a wall of light grey. I know these are technical points and the gameplay may be solid but together they tell me, "Why arn't i just playing oblivion?"

Oblivion did one thing that really irked me. It autoflagged a stolen item everywhere in the world. So if I steal something from citizen 1 in town x, automagically citizen 2 in town y knows it is stolen and wont buy it from me. It made my favorite part of the game pointless.

I mean in Morrowind I got so drunk I stole the Stendarr's Hammer and took out a guard before the potions wore off and I couldnt swing it anymore.

You know you can adjust the draw distance in the options which pretty much removes the fog.

Oblivion is the only Elder Scrolls game I played and I did have fun playing it casually. A friend of mine played Morrowind for a while and it didn't look appealing to me but I had a lot of fun just messing around in Oblivion. I was a thief and stealing was definitely the highlight of the game for me. I loved going into a new town and slowly emptying all of the buildings of their items. I kind of lost interest though when the next armor class was mythril and I stopped looking like a thief with dark clothing (shallow reason I know). I found the main stories and side dungeons to be far too punishing with my weak defense and attack and just stopped playing once I emptied all of the towns out.

I am having problem believing people are not so happy with this game

its absolutely fantastic, sure it could be improved on, but what couldn't be improved on?

The whole setting, difficulty, story, and more is all mixed well and a lot of fun

as for short dialogues, I find that is one of the strong point of the game.
In a game I want to play, I don't want to read, so you better get to the point.
but if you are the kind that wants to read, there are many scripts and books you can read found around the oblivion world.

I think this game is so good, it makes videogames history

I am having problem believing people are not so happy with this game

It's because a lot of people have played The Elder Scrolls III miss a lot of features that were taken out for Oblivion. In a lot of ways, Oblivion feels like The Elder Scrolls Light. That's not to say it isn't an awesome game; I think it is awesome. I've played through Oblivion at least a couple times and put a lot of hours into it. I don't really think it broke any new ground in gaming, though. Pretty much everything in the game had been done in TESIII: Morrowind. The one huge thing Oblivion did improve was the combat.

I loved it, the same as I loved Morrowind. So much to do, so many places to go, such a large world, totally unique customization on your character. And the auto-travel feature is a godsend.

This comment actually got me thinking, as i've only played the xbox version it never occured to me about the PC one. So im gonna give it another go on PC instead and see if my views differ.

I wonder if someone could recommend a good guide for Oblivion. I tried playing it once. I didn't like the combat or the strange levelling system. I wasn't enjoying myself and just got bored with it
