True. Though I will expect screen rotation (ala Final Fantasy Tactics) on the Tactics Ogre: LUCT remake. That's what I was very upset about and wowed with by FFT. I still pine for more Ogre Battle (the quasi-RTS style) though. (Or for something other than just battle tactics, something akin to Jagged Alliance 2 from the PC. The original game got a recent DS port, but kept the dated mechanics and 90s-era smudg-- I mean sprites.)Yiddishpilot wrote:I'm looking forward to tactics ogre. IMO the tactics series is the best example of strategy rpg's. The retro revival is the only redeeming thing about the psp these days.

My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Enix? I'm not sure about that, I don't see that in the SNES intro anywhere. But I know it was developed by Quest, headed by Matsuno and eventually Square Soft bought them out and the Ogre Battle franchise name and has done nothing with it until now. Pretty disappointing, because Matsuno apparently has like plans for 5 more entries or something. Outside of these titles this team handled FFT, Vagrant Story, FFXII, and maybe some others, but those are ones Matsuno was involved in.

Yeah, I am the one that got mixed up, but for sure it wasn't release for SNES in the North American market. And I only got a glimpse of the PS1 collection while in high school, met up with hardcore fans while in college.
Will have to play through the game to see is it greater than FFT when it arrives.

Re: Tactics Ogre PSP thread
so Jeremy Parish actually gave this an A+. His glowing review sounds really rationally too. I think I'm pretty sold on picking up the PSP remake rather than holding out for an elusive PS1 copy.

I know I raved against it earlier, but just had to express my current love for the original version. I think this will be a case where BOTH versions are certainly worth checking out (like say the Lunar games, original SegaCD vs PSX), so I look forward to playing the PSP game someday.
Hands down this game is better than FFT.

I have to say I was a bit worried from Ryvius comments but the 1up review was very clear about giving a good perspective on the changes and I'm convinced. Also, I was not aware that the PS1 "port" had performance issues.
If I had all the money, time and no other games to play, I might just put 100 hours into each version. As it is I think I may settle just for the PSP remake (although I do not doubt the PS1 game is really great as well).
Ivo.

Re: Tactics Ogre PSP thread
that was my first thought, but if the price is a big difference, then we're getting into the ballpark of just buying the PS1 version. Though. I guess the PSP version is still ideal.chupon wrote:Time to import.noiseredux wrote:dammit, Europe is getting a Premium Edition which includes 44-page hardcover book and soundtrack CD!

The only thing I really dislike hearing is being able to go back and redo choices throughout the game after you've cleared it. I mean that's not bad for us that don't have a lot of time on our hands, but I can't imagine doing that would have the same kind of impactful experience vs an actual replay of the game, and having to deal with those consequences. I couldn't see it being as powerful or emotional going the quick route just to simply see the alternate routes of the game.Ivo wrote:I have to say I was a bit worried from Ryvius comments but the 1up review was very clear about giving a good perspective on the changes and I'm convinced. Re: Tactics Ogre PSP thread
I'm very much looking forward to playing this game on the PSP. I had the GBA one when I was younger but for some reason it didn't resonate with me so I got rid of it. I'd like to go back and play that one again as well. As for FF Tactics, it's one of my favorite games but I haven't played any Disgaea and don't remember Tactics Ogre.
