A statement that the game design and mechanics are more like "old" FPS games rather than "modern" ones is the highest recommendation I could possibly hear. The old shooters were fast, fun, and to the point. The new ones have way too much trudging slowly around boring maps, looking for cover and trying to find that damn sniper that keeps killing you. If I want realistic combat punctuated with lots of waiting around, I'll join the Army, thanks. DNF sounds like exactly what I want. Time to come get some!

Agreed. My only complaint is last I heard, you can only carry two weapons at a time... which really sucks, but maybe it's not as bad as it sounds in this case.

Wow, is it just me or did the article just sound like:
"It's a piece of shit because it doesn't have the best graphics ever. The enemies aren't human and cannot possibly give the player a challenge. The jokes are offcolor and sexist and because I made mention of that I am mature."?

From the article, it sounds like everything the FPS genre has been needing.

I'm really looking forward to this and even considering getting the "Balls of Steel" edition. Everything I see/hear about it makes me more excited.

I don't give a fuck. This is and always has been a day one purchase for me. I honestly can't wait to fire it up with a few friends, get some beers in and just giggle juvenilely at it's sheer unabashed sexism and 80s/90s action film clichés. Judging from the hands-on it's going to deliver just that. You know what? That's just what I expected from Duke, and I'm glad they stuck steadfastly to their guns.

I will also be getting it on launch day as well. I'm really excited and looking forward to it!!
