Most of the Shin Megami Tensei series is based on a book called Digital Devil Story by Aya Nishitani. You can find an English translation of the book here:

I've always found it quite interesting that they made a sequel to a book using a video game. Then they made a sequel to the game (which I have not played yet).

The games came after the movie. Dune 2000 also has elements from the movie. There are no weirding modules in the books. The sonic attack tanks are based on those. The characters in the videos seem very similar to those of the first movie the same for Emperor. On another nothe House Ordos is a a made up house for the games. I love Dune.
