Marlins generally have one fucking awesome season, then every player demands a massive salary hike so they have to get rid of everybody because they can't afford their team. And I've been bored to tears at every Rays game I've been to.YoshiEgg25 wrote:If Florida liked sports, maybe it would get more than 25,000 people to a Tampa Bay Rays game. Or 20,000 to a Marlins game. I mean, it's not like these teams are bad. The Rays just went to the World Series!Gamerforlife wrote: Or maybe it's just a Florida thing.

It was on so I watched some of it while I ate dinner. The only reason I pay attention is for the commercials. I get pissed when someone spends 3 million dollars and airs an old commercial. . . . But Captain America looks good.

I have always hated the priority sports gets over anything else on tv, as if sports are as important as a presidential address. And don't we have over a billion sports channels that can cover that crap, instead of using regular channels so that we're forced to miss our shows. Why do sports fans get to cram their favorite hobby down everyone else's throat?Michi wrote:I know. It keeps preempting the stuff I actually like to watch.
That is one of the main reasons I hate sports. It is given FAR too much importance. Lewis Black once compared the super bowl to a religios ritual

It gets priority because people watch it, it gets ratings and generates revenue. The channels(or networks) bid and compete with each and have to take turns broadcasting the Superbowl. This years Superbowl was the most watched television show/event ever. No one is craming anything down anyones throat.Gamerforlife wrote:I have always hated the priority sports gets over anything else on tv, as if sports are as important as a presidential address. Well, that's plain and simple... more people watch sports than anything else on TV; thus it has the highest ratings and gets priority over pretty much anything else (and why Super Bowl ads cost a shitload since so many people are watching).Gamerforlife wrote:I have always hated the priority sports gets over anything else on tv, as if sports are as important as a presidential address.
Personally I like watching football and always record the weekly local game (so I don't have to sit through the commercials). I also watch most of the playoff games and always end up hosting or being at some Super Bowl party.
One thing to the people that don't watch; did you grow up watching any sports? Did you grow up playing any sports? I grew up watching mostly football and played soccer and other sports so maybe that influences your decision... or something. I don't really like watching baseball; the only soccer I watch is World Cup; I will occasionally watch NHL; only basketball I watch is NBA Finals. However, if the home team in any of these sports is in the playoffs I will watch it.
Re: Am I The Only One Not Watching The SuperBowl?
I'm more of a college football fan. Pretty much all of my favorite NFL players are retired now so I don't watch it that much anymore.
