I think the price on the 3DS is out of my range - maybe when they do a price drop in a few years. The 3D capability is really interesting though I'd like to see it first-hand. I do worry about the possibility it could give me a headache. I know you can turn down the 3D setting, but that's really the selling feature for me so far.
I saw the kickoff vid that Sony made for the NGP. It was utter crap - I learned nothing about the product. After doing some reading, the device looks fine, and has 2 analog sticks and touch capability. If it is priced the same as the 3DS or higher, I won't be in the market for a long time.
I don't often play mobile games, though I do like my DS and DSi a lot.

I'm going to need to learn a lot more details about the PSP's game storage before I even consider a purchase.

Neither. I have a phat DS that I barely play. As soon as the 3DS comes out I'm going to buy a bunch of DS games on the cheap and finally get around to playing a good chunk of the library. In the mean time I still have plenty of GBA games to keep me busy.

God no, most fat DS end up with broken hinges sooner or later. Nothing unbreakable about them.
That's what happened to me. Me being the idiot that I am, I bought a DS Lite hoping that the hinges would be better (also, I wanted the better backlight).

I don't understand how anyone manages to break the hinges or shoulder buttons on their DS's. I've had my fat since release and played it pretty steadily til a couple years ago when I picked up a cheap lite and have had no issues.

corn619 wrote:I voted neither. I have a ton of great games on my current DSi & PSP I haven't even started yet. Also, you know theres probably going to be reliability issues with the 1st gen models. By the time the 'Lite' and 2K versions come out in a year or so, they'll be better designed, have the bugs worked out, they'll cost less & have a affordable game library worth buying. Then I'll compare and make my choice.
You make a really good point. If I wasn't so impatient I would do the same. I am a typically an early adopter so its kind of in my nature not wait when there is something new and great out.
I must say though... if the NGP (psp2) comes out and is more expensive than a PS3... I will pass.

Re: 3ds or ngp (psp2)
I haven't seen anything on the new PSP yet but that 3DS looks just fantastic both in specs and already announced games. Plus the backwards compatibility is always a blessing on Nintendo handhelds.
However, I just picked up my first PSP, a 2.0, and I'm still not done with my GBA or DS game list yet so while I'd love to get a 3DS I'll probably hold off for a year or so and get the first revision while building up my library for these 3 handhelds. I'd also like to get a DSi, which hopefully will get much cheaper; so that or one of the retro handhelds I don't have yet (Lynx/Game Gear/NGPC) will probably be my next purchase.
I am enjoying handheld gaming much more than console gaming at the moment though so I'll be eyeing that 3DS a lot; plus I love Nintendo and I haven't been disappointed with any of their systems yet except maybe the Virtual Boy.

Same here - had my DS phat since two weeks after release and it held up as if it were right out of the box on day one........until last month.
Dropped the damn thing once, ONCE, and now the top screen refuses to stay put..
I could understand repeated surface contact, or a full-on nerd-rage, but c'mon - one drop onto a carpeted floor from a height of about 5 feet??
My original Gameboy brick has been dropped down flights of stairs, onto pavement, thrown into a wall, (NOT by me,) and that fucker still looks and runs like the day it was manufactured...
