But Nintendo vs. Sega SSMB style would work, and would be awesome. I've been wishing for this one for a while now. And since Sega and Nintendo are buddy-buddy now, why haven't we seen it?

Probably because Sega neglects their old franchises outside of various genesis compilations.

There's been some old-school love in Sega Allstars racing and tennis. Gilius Thunderhead, Alex Kidd, Opa-Opa, Bonanza Bros., characters from Virtua Fighter, not to mention the dreamcast characters that were in it, like the chuchus, ulala, beat from jet set radio and ryo from shenmue. Thats not bad going, despite the sonic overload.

Anyhow, if they did do a sega fighting game of any sort, it might give them a reason to bring back a few others. Streets of rage guys perhaps? Shinobi? Wonder Boy? Sega have quite a....quirky line up of characters though, some of them might not be easy to design a moveset for

If you've ever played the Capcom vs SNK / SNK vs Capcom games, you'd know that:

A) Capcom would make it suit their style (Street Fighter)
B) Nintendo would make it suit their style (Smash Bros)
C) The best game of the bunch would be the one that throws both styles out the window and creates a brand new style that has all the characters on equal footing (See: SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium)

I don't play turn-based RPGs, so I know none of the characters.

And then I would have been full of it because I know nothing about it.

Plus Wonderboy, Beat from Jet Set Radio, NiGHTs, Ulala, Ryo from shenmue, Amigo from samba de amigo, someone from house of the dead perhaps, a gunstar heroes dude if Sega have the rights, Alex Kidd, some guys from Virtua Fighter (how oculd you miss these), maybe a Crazy Taxi guy just for the fun, and possibly Opa-Opa if they could figure a way to to make him work. But fi capcom can make megaman work, I dont see why he shouldnt. Take away a few of those sonic characters too, thats way too many when sega have so many other series that I'd love to see represented.

I'm sure I've missed plenty more too. Sega would have an awesome fighting game cast. I'd rather have Capcom vs Sega than any other company.
