Ah, I see. I didn't realize that, but since that's the case I think I'll take your advice and look into a stealth chip after all.Ziggy587 wrote:Doesn't matter though. Re: PlayStation Import Problem
This. It was kind of a dick move for devs to put in code that detected mod chips even on legit games. It should just check to see if the game itself is genuine and then allow it to boot anyway.Ziggy587 wrote:Doesn't matter though. If your chip doesn't have stealth, certain games can detect it. A couple pics to get an idea of the solder job. Each revision PCB a different layout.

Re: PlayStation Import Problem
I cracked open my PS1 (7001 series) and found the the following. I'm pretty much a complete newbie when it comes to the inner-workings of electronics and modifying systems/computers so I really don't know what's going on here. The left plate is soldered onto the board.Ziggy587 wrote:I'm not too sure about pre-stealth PS1 mod chips, but probably all PS1 mod chips will let you boot imports. At this point in the game, if you have anything other than a Stealth chip in there, rip it out and put a Stealth chip in.
EDIT: RE-doing pics, they were twice as big as their image size - should have previewed - will re-post when I figure out why
EDIT: Fixed Pics

This is what's happening under the plastic sheet. Is there anyway you guys can tell if it's a stealth chip by these pics? I might be a newbie when it comes to this stuff but I find it interesting and I'm willing to learn.

As suspected by some, I can definitely confirm that the screen is saying that the game will not load to to a detected illegal modification done to the hardware.ProfessorK wrote:So in the mail today I got my copy of RockMan Complete Works: RockMan 3. I don't know who modded my PlayStation or what they did to it (I opened it and didn't see anything different) but up until today it's played US and JPN games fine. It still runs my copies of King of Fighters '99 and DragonBall Final Bout, but when I try to play RockMan I get this screen:
Anyone know what this means?

Re: PlayStation Import Problem
power on the system when you get the screen telling you that the system is modded, press and hold reset for 4 seconds and it should boot the game. If it doesn't boot press the reset button for 1 sec and keep repeating until it turns off the chip or changes settings. You should have a pen and paper with you so you can remember how many times you have press reset.
If you only play original and not back-ups. I have anti-piracy modchips. This chips work with all original domestic and imports and will load every game with anti-mochip protection. I also have MM3 Stealth mochips.

I'm trying the reset trick you talked about but it doesn't seem to work. Do you do mod chip installations as well? If so, what would you charge to install a stealth chip? (aside from shipping)jinn wrote:power on the system when you get the screen telling you that the system is modded, press and hold reset for 4 seconds and it should boot the game. Re: PlayStation Import Problem
$35 [MultiMode3] plus return shipping. I think you have a MultiMode 2 chip. There could be a chance that one of the wires came off. You should check and if that's the case we can work out a deal to repair/re-solder the chip in place.

That's mine so... I'm assuming I probably need a better one. I don't get payed until next week. I'd be able to pay/ship a week from tomorrow. I'll send you a PM around then. Thanks!
Re: PlayStation Import Problem
Wow, that looks like one of the first 3-4 wire chips.
No problem, just PM me when you are ready. I also have a few pre-mods for sale

I'm also going to look for all my PSX patches, there is a patch to remove the anti-mod protection from an ISO back-up.
