Congratulations! You have what I consider the best model. It has both the visual soundscope CD player and the cart port. The add on mod chip is usually hanging off by itself with wires snaking back to various parts of the main board. Be careful, some of those soldered wires may pop off. I wouldn't even attempt removing the PCB unless you plan on soldering in a seven wire mod chip replacement.
If that is the only game that doesn't work, you have to weigh the soldering involved vs damaging the PCB. Maybe get one of those carts?
I'll definitely try to get one. What should I search? Like, what is a common name for one?
Would this work?
@flojocabron: I tried both my controllers and with/without a memory card in. No luck

You need a stealth PS1 modchip. The stealth part is what allows it to avoid the mod-protection in some games. If you aren't comfortable fitting it (IE you have little to no soldering experience) Snowkitty may have a chip he can fit for you. Give him a PM.

Awesome. Thanks for the tip! I'm not really trained in the art of soldering so I'd probably have to send it out...

Google PS1 Gamehunter. There are quite a few varieties out there. A Mod Chip is the best route if you want to risk the solder job.
I will try to find one if I can't get help with a modchip like Niode recommended. There are too many imports I want to risk not being able to play one. When I drop the money on Gradius Gaiden it better work!
I know my old grey PS has a mod-chip installed in it that lets it play back-ups (or at least it will once again when I give the system and it's laser a much over-do cleaning) Are you guys telling me the mod-chip also allows me to play actual imported discs, or would I need to know more specifically what type of chip it is to know that for sure?
I'm not too sure about pre-stealth PS1 mod chips, but probably all PS1 mod chips will let you boot imports. At this point in the game, if you have anything other than a Stealth chip in there, rip it out and put a Stealth chip in.

I'm pretty sure mine is pre-stealth as it was put in back when PS1 was still going strong, but I wasn't the one to install the chip. I'm not really interested in back-ups though so I'm going to give the old buddy a good cleaning and pick up a cheap JPN PS1 game from a local shop that I want regardless and see if it works.
