Re: i just got into the metroid games
Metroid Database usually has a variety of good maps:PixelPixii wrote:Today I just purchased a Metroid cart for my FC mobile 2. Just spent 30 minutes playing and enjoyed it. I am really stoked to dig in further. I wish it had a map, or at least told me which upgrades I was picking up when I get them, but I think it is fun.
If anyone has a good link for some maps and hints please share!
Metroid=pew pew pew pew pew!

They've also got translated scans of the prequel manga that came out around the same time as Metroid Zero Mission. Enjoy!

Re: i just got into the metroid games
Metroid Prime was the last game i purchased on GC before i got rid of the machine its also the least amount of time i purchased a game before i sold it on (around 3 Hrs i think),you fight your way through a room just to come back later and all the annoying liitle plants are back on the ledges for you to shoot all over again ....i just reached for the power button lol,i know its just a game but i like them to have a degree of realism it was all just shambolic and annoying.flamepanther wrote:Metroid Prime would like a word with you. Alone, out back in the alley. With a bat.noiseredux wrote:fixed.flamepanther wrote:Metroid is considerably crappier in 3D.
...oh yeah ...I went THERE.
I have never bothered with any metroid that came after that.

If the enemies didn't regenerate in the Metroid games everything would just end up being empty... and then what would you do with Samus' totally effin wicked cool arm cannon?
Re: i just got into the metroid games
This is inexcusable. I've never before heard of a game using a respawn mechanic before, and certainly never a Metroid game.G-Darius wrote:you fight your way through a room just to come back later and all the annoying liitle plants are back on the ledges for you to shoot all over again

Re: i just got into the metroid games
So I got Zero Mission and Fusion down. I started Super sometime back but ended up stopping for some reason... but it's not going anywhere. Back when I started Prime I ended up taking Zero Mission to a job I had where I could play it and well, ended up playing it at home too. But right now, the big deal in my Wii is Other M. It's fun. I don't understand any of the hatred for it at this point, it's a solid game. Sure, some things are annoying, but none of those things are grounds on which to lynch this fine game.
I've said before, I find the original Metroid somewhat unbearable and don't pretend to have any ambition about beating that one. I see why some think it's amazing, but it got into my hands too late for me to enjoy it. I'd like to play II but I'm not sure if that will suffer the same opinion with me as the first or not. I'm hoping that 2 remake gets finished and supports a gamepad. After seeing some of the tech demos for it, with the quick steps over short obstacles and whatnot, it's looking like a really fun and sleek Metroid experience.
I guess it's safe to say I've cut my teeth on the series a bit, though I'm not expecting any cookies or medals until I've got Super Metroid under my belt. Even then, I don't foresee myself becoming one of those speedrun wall jumping shinesparking insano players, so I'm not about to step on any of their toes or even claim supremacy, for that matter.
All in all, getting into the Metroid series was a wise and rewarding decision with more fun to be had down the road.
Let me ask you Prime vets a question tho, if you happen to be swinging through here that is... Do you recommend the Gamecube originals (1 & 2) over the Wiimakes? Or should I break bank and pick up the Trilogy on Wii and just play all three with the same controls?

Unless you're after the GBA link features, or you really want the original title screen animations, I'm not aware of a significant advantage on the GameCube versions of 1 & 2. It's a matter of personal preference, but I much prefer the Wii controls.optmusprimenumber wrote:Let me ask you Prime vets a question tho, if you happen to be swinging through here that is... Wait, they took out the AWESOME metroid prime title screen inside the metroid? I loved that screen, it was so creepy, and really made me anticipate the game that was coming (especially when I was fairly young when I first played it - I'd never seen such a creepy looking game title screen). And that music! Please tell me the Prime 1 title music is still there somewhere!
