I'm a big fan of Jerky, at my pub we get this stuff called 'Martin's Jerked Meat' and it's really good. We have Venison, Venison & chilli, Smoked Teryaki, Smoked Teryaki Whiskey (which is actually bourbon - Jack Daniels to be exact), Goat & Perrins (which is goat and Lee & Perrins, surprisingly tasty actually), 'Famous Yeast Extract' (AKA Marmite), Beef & Ale, smoked chili, Dragon's Bane (worlds hottest jerky - I had some of this for a bet. Had to eat the entire pack within 30 seconds, totally worth it, but it was torture for the 40 minutes afterwards that my face felt like it was literally going to melt off) and the pioneer jerky which is made to traditional 1800s recipe.
I wish it was more prominent in this country. My friend has a smoker and has made some very nice smoked sausages, beef and salmon with it. How easy is it to make without having to shoot anything?

I had an old roommate that made some with store bought meat in our oven. Obviously he had to use liquid smoke, but it was still pretty good.Niode wrote:I wish it was more prominent in this country. So it is as simple as trimming some lean beef into strips, getting rid of the fat, marinading and then putting in a smoker? Or am I missing something?Hobie-wan wrote:I had an old roommate that made some with store bought meat in our oven. Seems like it. I remember him buying the meat, but I came home from work and it was already in the oven so I missed the work bit in the middle.Niode wrote: So it is as simple as trimming some lean beef into strips, getting rid of the fat, marinading and then putting in a smoker?
