It's not a Point n Click adventure game, it was one of two games (The other was Monkey Island 4) to use the GRIME engine which was a 3D engine without pointing or clicking.pakopako wrote:Waugh; I must have deleted the wrong name tag from quoting emwearz' post!emwearz wrote:pakopako you quoted me as saying something I didnt say
But at any rate you said "DOSbox? SCUMMvm? " The game does'nt use the SCUMM engine and it was made for Windows not DOS.
I remember now. Grim Fandango was released around the same time as Curse of Monkey Island (also a Win95 game)... And Grim Fandango is a LucasArts point-n-click that doesn't use SCUMM?... Sonuvagun, it didn't!
I take it people have tried loading in Windows XP and Win7?

Gothic 1+2 (3 with Community patch, if your computer can run it)
Risen (same as Gothic, only more refined)
Maniac Mansion Deluxe (just because)
Ultima series (IV-VII to be precise)
Arx Fatalis (also released on Xbox1, but much, much better on PC)
Quake 1 (FPS from when FPS's were... FPS's)
Tyrian 2000 (you get it for free on GOG when you buy a game (IIRC)) rather "advanced" SHMUP
Little Big Adventure 1+2 (there is no excuse what-so-ever not to play these games on PC)
Another World - 15th Anniversary Edition (Out of this World in the States)
The Elder Scrolls II - Daggerfall
Duke Nuke'm 3D (why not?)
Times of Lore (Ultima "lite" ) hack'n'slash kinda
Dwarf Fortress
Wasteland (predecessor to Fallout 1)
Gobliiins 1-3 (4 as well, if you can run it) great humorous point'n'click
Duke Nuke'm - Manhattan project (platforming)
Creatures 1-3 (breed and raise your very own A.I. very, very advanced "Tamaguchi" style games)
Sim City 2000 (never tried any other but the PC version, which still holds up since you use a mouse and keyboard-shortcuts)
Minecraft
Master of Magic (Civilization meets Heroes of Might and Magic) AWESOME strategy
Civilization III/IV
Freelancer
Soldat
most of these games (read: all of them except for CIv IV, Risen and Gothic III) can be run on old PC's (as in... doesn't require an insane amount of graphics-memory, etc.) and are well worth your time (IMO)

Re: Older PC exclusive games with a good story.
I've tried Master of Magic (pressured by some Classic Gamers @ GameFAQs); the pacing ramps up very slowly and I would have liked to have been able to create a custom Hero (like you could edit custom units in Civ2) as well as a custom Mage.
Also surprised I haven't seen anything relating to Twinsen's Odyssey yet.

Re: Older PC exclusive games with a good story.
All of the Wing Commander games from 2 onward have fantastic stories (the first game has some great characterization but is thin on plot compared to the others). Yeah there's console ports for some of them but they're really meant to be played on PC.
