Laugh if you want but sometimes when i watch good parkour, its like an illusion or almost seems unexplainable, which fits my definition of magic.Luke wrote:Jonesy47 wrote: When you throw Super Human abilities into the mix, ala prototype, spider-man, infamous, the incredible hulk, while fun to just thrash around a city, it loses a lot of the magic of parkour.
I'm sorry, but bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
The magic of parkour?

Magic? Not a guy who can backflip, magic? Not being athletic and having acrobatic abilities, magic?Jonesy47 wrote:Laugh if you want but sometimes when i watch good parkour, its like an illusion or almost seems unexplainable, which fits my definition of magic.Luke wrote:Jonesy47 wrote: When you throw Super Human abilities into the mix, ala prototype, spider-man, infamous, the incredible hulk, while fun to just thrash around a city, it loses a lot of the magic of parkour.

Thats pretty hardcore, they should have like a tv special David Blaine vs The Kid Down The Road Who I See Balancing On The Ledge On The Way To School!!!
Re: Does Prototype use parkour?
I said GOOD parkour. Dancers anymore can backflip. Im talking about a backflip off of a 30 foot drop and landing in such a way that you dont just splat or smash your skull into the pavement. If david blaine said he was gonna do that, i guarantee people would pay to go watch him. Ive also seen bigger crowds for guys climbing the outside of skyscrapers than for david blaine and his burger strike or his ice block bs.emwearz wrote:Jonesy47 wrote:Laugh if you want but sometimes when i watch good parkour, its like an illusion or almost seems unexplainable, which fits my definition of magic.Luke wrote:

Its because people simply cant believe what theyre seeing. Kinda like why people go to see magic.

Re: Does Prototype use parkour?
Ok, so Prototype uses freerunning, and by definition, Mirror's Edge is the only game to do actual parkour. Alright, I'll accept my loss.

That's cool man, but you have to expect a joke thrown your way when you use a phrase like "the magic of parkour". It might be cool in some areas, but generally people laugh at people who take parkour seriously just like people laugh at people take unicycling seriously.Jonesy47 wrote: Laugh if you want but sometimes when i watch good parkour, its like an illusion or almost seems unexplainable, which fits my definition of magic.
Actually, unicycles are kind of neat. I have one, almost rode it for 5 feet once.

I would hold unicycle "longest rides" at my keg parties in undergrad. I think my run of 5 feet was the record. The best ride ever was when a friend of ours, affectionately named BIG JEN, put one foot on one pedal, and at the attempt to mount the unicycle, the unicycle literally flew ten feet towards oncoming traffic. Fun times.
