To add to the pile of free games:
www.steambirds.com/

Steambirds is a fairly addictive phone game that also happens to be playable in flash.

This is one of the better uses of the RPG Maker XP program and proof that it actually can deliver a pretty powerful RPG in the right hands. The art work is lovely and the game has a nice feel to it, just like the JRPGs of old. If you're going to just try one indie RPG, try Barkley Shut & Jam Gaiden, but if you're going to try two, then also give Last Scenario a shot.

Important note for Vista Users:
You won't see text at first, but this is easily remedied.

1. Download RGSS103J.DLL, I have found several different ones, but this one works: http://www.filecrop.com/RGSS-DLL.html [It is at the top of the list]

2. Open Game.ini in your game directory

3. On the second line, adjust Library=RGSS102E.DLL to Library=RGSS103J.DLL

After saving the changes, the text should show up from then on for Vista users. Happy Gaming.

If you are looking for some good multiplayer first-person-shooter action that won't cost you a dime, I'm telling you, this is the game. This game will bring back all kinds of Unreal Tournament nostaligia. It's also full of cool retro aliens with giant brains for heads. It doesn't really add much new to the FPS genre, but the controls are smooth like butter. Running, jumping, and fragging. That's what it's all about. HEADSHOT!

I want you to play this game to see how cool it is, but I fear it will go largely unnoticed because it has really boring graphics.

You have to play this game.

It is a very innovative gameplay idea. You just can't see how cool this game is from the pictures. It's not even completely clear from video. You won't understand why this game is so cool until you play it. It's like if Solomon's Key and a Rubick's Cube had sex and produced an ugly baby that is freakishly smart and surprisingly fun.

Seriously. It's free. It's a small download. Just play it.

Sissy was a showgirl. Then she died. As she stood there looking over her own dead body, her spirit guide decided to give her a second chance at life. Now she may live again, but she will have to get through the toughest casino boss in Vegas.

This is a charming little adventure game. The graphics have a playful style with a film noir flair. It controls a bit like resident evil, but you have to use your wits, charm, and feminine wiles to get through this game.

Sanctum is the world's first tower defense game done in first person. You have to set up a bunch of turrets, and then as the waves of baddies come rolling in, you have to run around and shoot them in FPS style along with your turrets and hope they don't breach your defenses. You'll also notice that it has some surprisingly good graphics for a free game.

In Run Man, you run fast. It's a platformer that is all about speed, timing, joy, and blues music. The art style is childish and cute, the music is folksy, and the action is fast and fun. Run Man is also an unlockable character in Super Meat Boy now, as a sign of respect from one game developer to another.

This game looks amazing. I've been thinking of making a game kindof like this myself, so I'm especially interested to see how well it works (or doesnt).
