But that's dual mono then, not stereo.
True, but at least the audio will feed both speakers if its a mono version Genesis.

Instead of going to the PCB, why not replace the jack? Or is the jack mounted right on the PCB? Even so you should be able to more easily solder at that jack connection. Not likely to find an exact replacement, you could simply piggyback off the old solder connections. Mount the new jack near that S-Video port.

because i think most likely it is a mono version. i wanted to wire it up for stereo through 2 speakers but i guess its just not worth all of this

Okay so I take it the jack is fine? If you don't want to dive inside you could go the splitter route I mentioned earlier. It would still be mono sound but both speakers will have all the audio.
However a worthy pursuit if you want to tackle that PCB connection. I wonder if there are dedicated connections. I would think a mono version Genesis might not have easily available internal stereo solder pads. Seems if it did then a factory stereo jack would have already been installed.

Thanks for all your help man.... i think i will just find the mono connection on the board near the jack and split it into 2 rca plugs... that should work i guess.
Terry, you should be fine modifying the PCB like that. As far as I know ALL models support stereo audio, but like that picture shows, the stereo signal is just being mixed down to mono.
Can you snap a pciture of the inside of your Genesis so we can take a look at it? Preferably around the SEGA chip like the picture posted?
