Whats up guys i need some guidance on how to complete my genesis model 3 mod.... I got svideo working but i need help wiring up the stereo jacks...
From what i think i understand so far:
The genesis model 3 has 2 different revisions. a mono version and a stereo version. easy way to tell is if you have a stereo genesis plug. just plug it in and see if you get sound out of 1 or 2 speakers. I cant do this since i dont have stereo AV Cable... I only have mono.
If its mono then you need to build an amp. which i dont know how to do and i dont understand electrical schematics well enough. I think the genesis model 3 has 3 channels... left, right, and sound effects. so if it is stereo i just need to find out how to merge the 3 channels into 2 and divide the sound effects to both left and right. I also needs the solder points to tap into.
Sounds like you're making things a little more complicated than they need to be. I've never modded a Genesis, but if what you say is true, then there may be a simpler solution. I see no good reason to divide the sound effects channel. Send right music channel to your right speaker; send left music channel to your left music speaker; send sound effects to your center speaker. Voila!

I have not heard of a separate channel just for sound effects. Are you trying to pull directly from the sound chip? if you are pulling from the factory jack, even if mono you don't need a separate amp. Just run a splitter. If both the white and red audio jacks work then you have already have stereo, splitter not needed.

Composite is a video standard, not audio. Do you mean to say stereo?
A center speaker is an unpaired speaker usually utilized for dialog, but it can be used for other types of sound too. I am suggesting you use a separate speaker for each of your analog audio channels. Trying to mix three channels into two channels is going to lead to a loss in quality. If you have three separate channels, just keep them separate. Send the left stereo channel to one speaker on the left side of your room; send the right stereo channel to an identical speaker on the right side of the room; send the sound effects channel to a single speaker in the center of your room (either below or above your TV).

I corrected the post.. i need just left and right but not loose sound effects. i will be using the speakers in the tv.
You're going through an awful lot of trouble just to use the built-in speakers on your TV. Even good TV sets typically have crummy speakers. You're better off using a few used bookshelf speakers. I imagine something like this:
